Anyone encounter this issue. my car runs fine normal. drove it to vegas from LA and back no problems. but i noticed yesterday when its sitting while on for like 15 min. the car will get really hot.
What does the thermostat have to do with it, if a theromostat helps warm up an engine on cold starts.. by trapping the water flow, unstil at operating temps?new thermostat
how did you wire this up? i'd want to hook up my fans like thisi had this problem recently, it would only overheat temporarily when it had been sitting at idle for long periods of time, it was the radiator fan, so i wired it to be only whenever the motor was running.
And now in the morning when its bone chilling cold and you start your car its going to try and warm up but its just going to get chilled water in return(if you have a good thermostat this won't happen)...i had this problem recently, it would only overheat temporarily when it had been sitting at idle for long periods of time, it was the radiator fan, so i wired it to be only whenever the motor was running.
Oh really? you seem to be forgetting that when you drive air is constantly being blown into the engine bay from outside, which is why people dont over heat while driving, only while the car is not moving. The only drawback to this is that it takes the car longer to warm up in the morning, once its at operating temperature, it stays there just fine. The procedure only took my friend a couple minutes so it must not be too hard, im sure there is a write up somewhereAnd now in the morning when its bone chilling cold and you start your car its going to try and warm up but its just going to get chilled water in return(if you have a good thermostat this won't happen)...
Your engine is trying to run at operating temp when you're comuting, but its always being cooled cuasing your engine to work harder and waste gas. Good luck...
they can stick closedThermostats have a Fail-Safe. They get stuck OPEN..if it got stuck closed you would have trapped hot water in your engine cuasing a VERY bad problem..
And I agree^^ check your fan its the one on the passenger side. Also check your Temp Fan Switch. Its located on the thermostat housing.. I have an extra one for free somewhere that works good. But I moved to another place so all my stuff is in storage.
A Temp Fan Switch is a sensor that senses the water Temp..once your coolent reaches a certin temp(180ish)it will tell the relay to turn on your cooling fan.
They have a fail-safe(double springs). They are designed to get stuck open.they can stick closed
