I'm stuck.

I have all my suspension work finished (struts, springs, camber kit, strut bars, and lower ball joints) and new axles, calipers, rotors, pads, brake lines, and fuel lines. So I've pretty much done everything I've wanted to do before doing engine work.

Now down to brass tacks. I can't decide what I want to do first. I'm buying springs, valves, and retainers on Friday and cams next Friday. That's about all I have on my list right now. After doing that I was thinking maybe a piston set and getting my head ported and polished?

I guess what I'm trying to do is get my car as powerful as I can before I decide to turbo it. If I can get this car up to 200hp N/A, I may be content with leaving it at that. All my money goes to my car and an $80 phone bill payment. So feel free to list a bunch of things because I can't decide... No I'm not doing a k swap or even a head swap.

Thanks fellas. Sorry if this post is a little bit ridiculous, but it's true!!

I think it depends on how powerful you want your car to be.
300hp or smth like that ?

What motor do you have? a B18A1?

I would not start building your motor if you want to see that HP at a reasonable price. If you want to see anything near there, I suggest getting a P8R head. It flows similar to a VTEC head, will enable you to make as much power as a poorly flowing LS can.

It will be an expensive build, and your power gains may not be desirable if you are looking for 190+.

if you're building an LS motor you're going to spend alot of money and time trying to get to 200whp, might as well just invest in a turbo set up to start with

That's the head from a b20, correct? I want to keep the stock block if I can.

I found a p8r head on eBay that says the casting is p75 for $300 shipped. Couldn't find one on craigslist so I didn't know if that was a deal or not, or even the correct head. What else would I need with this?

turbo is the way to go with standard internals. you'll get about 200-210 hp with a

T3 turbo with , a manifold, external wastegate, 2.5" pipe exhaust system, and ecu programming,
pressure should be adjusted to : around 7 psi

this is what I did before. actually many people do it.

Like I said, I'm not putting a turbo on until I finish my internal work. Who hasn't slapped a turbo on a stock motor and beat the shit out of it? I know I'm guilty... RIP 1992 Accord EX Coupe... :D

The P8R head is stamped P8R. If it says P75 or PR4 then it is a standard LS head.

My build is somewhat exploratory. The head has a 84mm chamber, where as my bore is 82mm, so there is a slight overlap making somewhat of a mushroom. It would be best to have a B20 block with the head, and this would probably provide the most performance.

I got my P8R head locally for 160 by the way.

Don't forget the little things like new valve guides, cam seal, etc. for the head.
What cams are you going with? BC I assume?
Also, have some bling factor to your build(billet fuel rail, fpr, inline fuel gauge, valve cover by RTW Ind., etc)
Just a few ideas....

I'll have to just keep looking for that head. I guess that'll start me off. I was going to go with BC cams actually now that you mention it, but obviously wanted to update the valve springs, retainers, cam gears, etc. and possible port & polish the p8r head when I find it. After that I wanted to do some extensive block work, but that's still about 2 months away...

Thanks for the suggestions guys, looks like my ideas were headed in the right direction. I'll keep you guys posted on what happens next.
