What power to expect?

Hey guys I was just wondering if you could let me know what kind of power ill make on my turbo set up. Ill give you a quick summary of my build so far.

Its a stock internals B18B1 with about 45k miles on it.
Has a blox turbo manifold with a 16g turbo.
560 cc injectors
walbro 255 fuel pump
hks intercooler and piping
hks ssqv bov
greddy wast gate
Ill be pushing around 7-10 psi

the motor is not in im still waiting for a few parts i just ordered. and then Ill have to get it tuned
but if I do get it a good tune, what numbers would you think i should expect out of that? Also if you guys have any other reccomendations on what to tune with or any other parts. That would be great!!!

Please let me know I am really curious?

what would you reccomend to get closer to 275 to 300?

i would put the estimate at a conservative 200hp(my guess, im FAR from being an expert) and i wouldnt want to go much higher than that on stock internals. now, replace the pistons, valves, springs, retainers, etc... and 300 would be save and achievable

How you like my v-tec?

I agree with red....you can't apply too much pressure on a stock internal engine or one day when your havin' fun with it...you'll see a patch of smoke that came from the back of your car along with an abrupt stop. And there goes your engine. No joke. Beef up the engines internals and then do a full tune.

Then report back to us. Pictures would be awesome 8)

even with only 45000 miles on the motor? I would be happy with around 275. Then Ill be throwing some rods pistons and all in there. this is to get me boosted now and then ill save up for some good internals.

It's detonation and high heat that cause a bottom end to grenade more-so than PSI. Adding forged pistons creates a bottom end that's more resistant to mild detonation and extra heat. With a good tune, anything under 300whp is usually accepted as 'safe' for a stock B18 block.

Mileage doesn't matter, it's the tune (and to a lesser extent your power vs. build) that determines the safe operation of your engine.

275whp will be pushing if not exceeding the limits of a 16g turbo. Hopefully one of our resident DSM guys will chime in and give you some nitty-gritties on the 16g.

Good luck :thumbs up

I would also like to add the health of the motor goes a lot to determine how long it will last. If all your seals are bad, and your burning oil and have terrible compression, I would not suggest boosting it. If it is healthy, go ahead, because you are going to break into it again when you put the new internals in.

What I dont understand, is why you would throw money out the window to do this in two parts. You are going to need to get it tuned when you install the turbocharger, and you are going to have to get it tuned again when you do your motor work. IMO thats a waste. Save up, do it once, do it right.
