wow that looks so tight... it fit perfectly in the dimmer switch location?
Haha, hell no it didnt! I had a lot of trimming I needed to do to the hole. Those white specs you see is part of the dash plastic that was filed away to make room for it. I probably had to take 1.5-2mm all the way around to get it in. A lot of the shaving fell back and into the hole. I vacuumed after I was finished, and I keep noticing more and more filings around the shifter and center console. They are coming out where you see the little pile of white dust under the cold side of the climate control :???:

Thanks Jim.

I just need to let it fall out and vacuum it up. There shouldnt be that much, I figure a couple of vacuums over a month will take care of it.

Its time to bring this bad boy back. Need to change the name to reflect things other than my engine though :)

A couple weeks ago I replaced my rotors and pads, and knew I was due to replace my passenger front wheel bearing. Didnt get a chance to knock that out at the time, but its coming up. Along with that headache, come MORE!!!!! Oh do I love old cars.

Theres three other things Im going to be doing.
1. Im building up a bit of crankcase pressure and is slipping by my spark plug tube seals. I know many of my studs are stripped, and the nuts probably share the same fate. I ordered 1 new long stud (I have a good one off of my parts motor), 3 new shorter studs, and 7 nuts. Along with that I ordered some new plug tube seals, and random nuts I needed (driver side motor mount nut, passenger torque mount nut). These guys werent cheap either.

2. My heater core leaks. Yep, its gone just like the other member who asked a question about it recently. I am going to be ordering a new one soon, but I am probably going to try to seal it up this weekend when I pull of the dash as a temp fix. I cant do cold mornings with no defrost on the front window...

3. While pulling the interior, I notice I have another leak. Its coming from the master cylinder. GREAT... another thing to replace.

While I have everything out, I'm going to get rid of all the stock sound deadening, and lay down some Dynamat on the floor, and on the firewall. I may eventually do the roof and portions of the rear, but that stuff is expensive, and Im lookin to throw about $150-$200 on it. Anything leftover from the floor/firewall is going on the front doors.

Now for the pictures of what I did after getting home from work.

Thats how I sit right now, How I will be driving around for the weekend.

Im not looking forward to removing the old material though :???: I'll be doing the dry ice trick to freeze it and start beating it with a hammer. I figure I'll have atleast an entire paycheck going into my car to get it back in shape. After all of this, its going to be on the back page for a while. Im saving up to move out, so most of my money is going straight to the bank. Any extra I can save will slide over for....

Drum roll please...

building a B18C1.

THANKS MARK!

I will when I get around to it Ricky, thanks. Its on the back burner now, as there are more important things I need to worry about now. When I save up enough for the motor, I'll then have to save up enough for the build parts and machine work ;)

Bought some parts today after work. I have everything I need to do to take care of my problems now, but the dynamat is in the mail.

Unfortunately I dont think I am going to get much done tomorrow. Its my sisters birthday, and after we eat lunch she wants to go out and go bowling. Definitely killing the opportunity for me to work on my car.

Clutch master cylinder: $80
Heater core: $72
Wheel bearing: $50
Dynamat: $200
Valve cover studs and nuts: $50

Sisters birthday was today. She is now a quarter century old.

That prevented me from doing A LOT of work, but oh well, I wont be driving my girl anytime soon anyways. Had to swing by Sears to get a couple things (10mm wrench x2 because I keep losing those bastards) and a 32mm socket (for the axle nut). Got home and finished up the valve cover studs and sealed up the gasket and tube seals. Drained the oil that accumulated in the spark plug holes into the cylinders (Yep, Im going to smoke pretty bad for a minute or two when she starts back up), and popped some 'newish' spark plugs in. I need to order a few more GS-R plug sets in the near future.

Next I pulled out the climate control, the vents and odds and ends. And ran out of time. Had to shower and get ready to go eat, then go bowling, then eat some cake. When I got home it was about 8PM. Dark.. and getting cold. I got back to it, took off my airbag and steering wheel (though I found out later I didnt really need to) and unbolted the dash. Unbolted the steering column to it would drop and the dash would clear the turn signal/wiper switched. Then a hiccup.

Some wires prevented the dash from coming all of the way out. No problem, some wire cutters fixed that problem. The wires were from a hackjob alarm install that I plan on redoing, and a wire I tapped into for power on the hazard switch.

Fresh new hardware for my cleaned up valve cover.

Dash removed.

And the JDM air freshener to freshen things up.

soo inspiring !
Thanks ;) I wish I had some black panels to replace my tan ones with though. I'll have to wait until Tuesday for my Dynamat to come in, so I dont know if I'm going to put the dash back in the meantime to drive it around...
