k ive had an oil leak ever since i got my car. at first i thought it was the typical headgasket leak cause it looked to be leaking in the left corner of the engine. its not the cam seal neather. after looking around last summer it looks to be at the distributor. well since its been sitting in my garage all winter long the whole side of the head and the front side of the engine is covered in oil. i have a msd distributor and im thinking its the o-ring on it. my question is the o-ring bigger or smaller on the msd distributor compared to the stock one. and where the hell can i get the o-ring lol. any one might have one floating around that they wanna get rid of ?

I'm not sure if the size's are different. I would think that they would be the same size. Go to your local autozone, advanced aut etc and im sure that you can get the part there

Head gasket or valve cover gasket? Did you use Hondabond on the corners of the gasket at the cams?

I don't know if the O ring is the same for the MSD distributor and the stock unit , but you can get the O ring from Honda for $3.36. The part number is 30110-PA1-732.
*Edit: that part number is for the Vtec motor, but it might be the same as the non-vtec.

BBHG.. one love.
it may also be vtec solenoid gasket if you have vtec... 8$ from honda when i got mine. i thought it was my o-ring.. i replaced seriously every gasket i have and it's finally stopped haha. good luck

edit:: saw that you pinpointed it to the dizzy... they definitely sell it at honda/acura. i couldn't find one at napa or autozone or anything. and it should be the same size as stock, i don't think it should change.

The o-ring for the v-tec and non v-tec at the dizzy is the same...

The MSD one should be the same since it has to fit the same hole..

The only other thing would be the valve cover, cam plug or head gasket.. however if u have oil higher then the head gasket that can be ruled out..

Give me a shout I will send u an o-ring for FREE brand new.. I have it in stock.

you know hot to find me on SUR! PM me there.

I dont mean to steal your thread but it seems like you have your issue resovled. I didnt want to start a new thread because i am having the same issue.

I leak about 8-12 drops of oil over a 12hr span from when it sits over night. They are always 2 spots spaced about 4 to 5 inchs apart on the transmission side, passanger side. I dont know where its coming from, but everything below the head is nasty in the back cornor on that side of the bay. It burns a lil oil, but not really a hell of alot. Its a 2000 GSR with a usdm itr block.

Thanks guys.

or vtec solenoid gasket.. dont rule that out. i changed every single gasket and forgot about that one and brought it into a shop for inspection and they told me my head gasket was cracked??? and i argued with them, brought it home and changed the vtec solenoid gasket for 8 bucks and now i have no leaks.
