identifying vtec question

ok i know im prob gonna get made fun of for askin this question but i searched CI for the answer and couldnt find any threads on it soo here gos


besides the numbers stamped on the block, or it just saying VTEC on the valve cover. How can you tell if a engine is VTEC just by looking at the engine, and be 100% sure, with out pulling the valve cover off and looking at the cams?

You can't put a VTEC valve cover on a non-VTEC engine, it doesn't fit on.

you cannot do an ls vtec without having a vtec head so there is absolutely no way you can have a vtec motor without a vtec valve cover

OK I didnt know the valve covers wouldnt change. but there is no other way to tell if its VTEC? Just curios now....

there is a vtec solenoid that only vtec motors have that you can check for, you can google it

well thats not exactly what i meant at first but since you said it...the blocks are sleeved in the non vtec i herd. is this correct?

If it doesn't say "DOHC VTEC" on the valve cover, then it obviously isn't a VTEC motor lol.
