Newbie with a problem!

Good evening fellow Integra owners!

I've had my 1991 Acura Integra for a decade now and have always brought it to my local Acura dealer for oil changes and other regular maintenance, and any problems. However, I've recently married and moved halfway across the country and have not yet found a reliable shop to bring my baby. However, my husband and our neighbors are all willing to help me with my car if I can just figure out what's wrong with her.

The only symptom is on startup. She cranks just fine, but dies within a second after she starts up. If I give her a little gas, she still dies. Only way to get her running is to put the gas pedal to the floor when starting her. This happens regardless of how long it's been since she's been started, running, etc. It's happened about 5 times now over the past two days. At first she just needed a little gas and didn't do it every time, but now she needs the pedal to the metal to even think about starting. She's got a full tank of gas. In fact this started the first time after I started her up after my husband had filled her up (from a gas station here on a military installation).

Help!

sounds like it;s flooding is it worse first thing or after you have been driving it a while?

Jim the OP mentioned it doesnt matter how long is has been turned off for. I would suspect the fuel pump possibly being the problem. Mine progressively got worse until it finally failed. It is much harder access in a 2nd gen than a 3rd gen, so you may want to check other possibilities first, but dont rule it out. You need to drop the gas tank to replace it.

Thank you!

250,000+ miles. Been through 26 states plus DC. What else could I check first before having my husband and neighbors replace my fuel pump? And how expensive are those things? One thing I noticed today is when I don't give it gas and it fails, it whirs down. If I give it a good amount of gas but not pedal to the metal, it still fails. It feels like there's a sumo wrestler sitting on my tacometer needle... and it seems to be getting worse and worse. My father keeps trying to get me to put dry gas in it... but I'm all about not putting additives in my car, since up til now, she's been quite content without anything fancy! Then again if I were back by my old dealer, I would have driven straight over there as soon as this happened the first time. Any suggestions for a cheap fix?

I had to do that on my 91 civic. It sucked
OEM ,fuel pumps are not too expensive
idk the exact price off hand but it shouldn't be over 80
