lip kit questions

Hey guys, I am about to buy the type R lip kit for my DC2 but before I do that I have a few questions to ask.

1. Is the installation easy enough for an average Joe to do?
2. Is there an "how to" install the lip kit online?
3. Should I bring it to a paint shop before the installation or have them paint it while it is already installed? ( I also want to repaint my front bumper)
4. can somone give me an estimate of the paint job for just the lip, and the installation if I cant do them myself.

I did my research online and I cannot get a good answer. Thanks guys, and sorry for the newb questions. these has probably been answered a thousand times before.

1. its a matter of bolts and nuts... probably the easiest thing in the world
2. its pretty self explanatory but im sure theres a write up some were, you just match the holes, or drill your own
3. before...how would they paint it on ur car?.....
4. call a paint shop or search online, prices differ
hope this helps, these are some obvious answers but i cant tell you to search, becasue we have a policy to help new people.......but seriously.....

@phatintegra: I believe it is a replica, Im buying it on ebay. Does that matter because even the replica is expensive...150 for front lip by it self. The thing about oem front lip is that it is abs plastic I believe, and I would like to get PU my car can barely go threw speed bumps without the lip.

@Tam: Thanks, so the installation is easy? Its just that everywhere I go they say "professional installation rec" and I see alot of cars with lips and body kits that are unpainted and are on the road...so I dont know if that is how your suppose to do it.

if its a replica all you really need to do is jack it up and zip tie it to your oem mounting points unless you have stock lip hardware. and then on the ends of the lip you use a screw to screw it to your bumper thats it. done.

It's ABS plastic if it was fiberglass take it to a body shop.

As for full body kit they mount it first so the body kit can flex before they shoot it with paint. If they paint it first. After they install it the body kit will flex and strech the paint.

Like Samuri said but I would use lock washers and you can put 2 small screws where the front lip wrap around the edge of the fender but you want the screw head to be in the wheel fender liner you will have to do the other side as well total of 4 small screws with pointed tip.

all you need to do is drill your side skirt holes first. same with front and rear lip.it wont cost a ton but since your silver has a metalic flake its going to cost a bit more. do not paint it with the lips on....EVER. personally i like black lips anyways. your gonna have to do drilling regardless. ebay is fine for lip kits...they usually fit well. it is easy for an average joe as it is an easy install. your probably looking at at least 300 in paint and labor depending on who you go through. with it being abs and a flexible material they have to use a flex agent(8295 if using ppg i believe) or the paint will chip in no time. pm me if you have any other questions

Its easy to put on. I use 2 screws one each sides and a double sided tape for the middle part. If you look closely to your front bumper on each side the driver side and passenger side there should be like 2 dots or lil lump circles to where you should drill your screws in. Then match it up with your lip. I got a usdm type r replica PU. I like it.
