also for color its a gradient, yellow white blue violet after. after violet on your scale which is 30000 it wont jump to green as seeing the subtle gradients of blue

idk where they got their color temps from because they are off theres no way on this scale they could make green "naturally" seeing that yellow and blue dont mix

nope no ticket at all. bmws have hids n stuff. i have a 6k set.
Okay well cars that come with HID's have projectors which are designed for HIDs. Have you noticed that their lights are nice and sharp, with a clean cut-off? And HID kit lights are sloppy and scattered?

Bottom line, HID kits are 100% illegal

Looks like everyone is missing the point here. I didn't read all the posts, so I may have missed it, but this is in the SECOND GEN forum,
which means he has reflector housings, not projector. Its like driving with you highbeams on ALL the time.
Please do not do this.

I've got blue HID's on my car and I got pulled over once for them. I expected the cop to tell me I was speeding or something, but he just mentioned that my headlights are illegal. Apparently they're unsafe because they don't refract light in a DOT approved manner. He told me it'd be a good idea to take them out, but he didn't write me a ticket for them or book me an inspection.

My name matches again lol
HIDs aren't good for our reflector lights, but the best way to try to not blind people is to aim them more towards the ground.

And yea, 5 to 6000k is the best color range to go with.

You would think so, not the case down here south of ST. Louis, they have nothing better to do than pull you over for the dumbest shit.

Me to, when I had my mustang in high school, they pull you over just to mess with you.
you dont even know, i live in a small suburb of dallas, nothing bad happens here, so cops get htere quota on kids at the high school (we have 3000 kids at our hs) they spend a shit ton of money on crap they dont need, like bmw motorcycles....the city is like 3 miles wide....y the hell would u need that? lol

Technically it is illegal to put HID's into lights designed for halogen bulbs, but I've never heard of anyone getting harassed for it.
Here in MD/DC/VA you be surprise. On how many people get harassed for aftermarket HIDs. It all depends on the cops.
