how safe is this to turbo

i am looking into getting a turbo. i am going to do a compression test and leakdown test. my first question is will an apexi safc work as a decent piggyback. will i be safe without a wideband(only going 7 psi)...my vehicle does not leak any oil. will the dsm 450 injectors work well and will they need adaptors or is there a better solution. will a 2.25 inch exhaust work or should it be up to 2.5. any help would be very much apreciated. if you have a turbo kit for sale please message me right away. thanks guys

depends who's tuning your controler, but at the price it is to get a ecu chipped and tuned, i wouldn't even bother with something like that. Just go to a local shop and get a ecu chipped and a basemap, then run the car there when you're done and have him tune it

Wideband isn't a must have, but it would be a good idea to have. as long as it's tuned with one, I wouldn't think you'll NEED one to make the car perform any better, or worse

thos injectors should be fine with only 7 psi. You can bore out the injector rings on the stock manifold to make the DSM injectors fit better

I'd probably say get a bigger exhaust... everyone with boost around here says run 3".

well thats my problem. no one around here tunes and whats a chipped and basemap ecu mean exactly. i live in willmar Minnesota and would be bringing the car to the cities. 2hours away so i would tow it. would a hondata s200 be a better solution

Better than a piggyback yeah. Hondata is effectively like a semi-piggy back where it controls only the fuel and ignition timing but allows the OEM ECU to run the rest of the car. Something like the SAFC allows tuning of fuel/timing but changing one value alters the other also.

Towing is a good iidea, hopefully you can find someone to do it cheap.

chipped ecu is just a ecu tuned on chrome or something of that style of program. A Socket is soldered into your ecu, and does basically what a piggy-back system does, except it's all internal to the ecu, so there's no extra wires, and you should be able to just use your stock ecu for it. (as long as you are obd1)

I just looked up your city on Google Maps... is st cloud any closer? You might be able to find someone there that could help you out.

Otherwise you could also check out phearable.net/. A friend of mine has gotten a couple ecu's chipped and shipped from there, and there basemaps are pretty close to what you need. just tell them what you're running for psi, injectors, and they can burn you a chip that'll get you where you need to go, but I still highly recommend NOT driving for weeks, or beating on your car on that basemap... basemaps are made to get the car running and safely to a tuner when towing is not an option

I wouldn't reccomend a s200, because the s300 has already come out, and there are many shops around here that wont even tune a s200 cause they just simply don't know how to. If you're die-hard to want something like the hondata, get a s300, but in all seriousness, chrome will work just as well and be half the cost.. Plus any legit tuner should have plenty of experience with chrome, because of how cheap it really is to run

I'm sure there are a lot of very good shops around the cities... when you have a bit metropolitan area like that, there's HUGE competition to be the best, so you probably have a good chance to find what you need... It's just getting there that's going to be your problem.
