For USDM OBD1 ECUs (p28 ):
Underneath the ROM there is a row of resistors labelled with RP__ . Remove RP17 and install a jumper across RP18.
A jumper wire is all you need. Remove the resistors, and run a wire across RP18. Thats it, no special capacitators or resistors needed.

is it hard to remove a resistor? cause i thought you had to heat it up but not fry the board

Soldering iron. Get the iron nice and hot and move quickly so you don't heat the board. You can also carry the heat away from where it isn't wanted by leaning something metallic on it. You'll probably want two sets of hands if you're inexperienced.

Put some lifting pressure on the resistor while you heat each end. You could also probably just carefully clip the center section of the resistor and leave the pins in there. But you'd still have to solder the new one in.

Is pgmpfi still down?
