i have a 92 integra gs b18a1 and want to swap the head to the b20..i have never done this and was wondering what all i need. also for the same amount i would spend on a b20 is there a better head to get? thanks
why? B20 heads are P75 casting = B18BThe B20 is a direct drop-in to your car as long as you go with an OBD1 engine. You will need a chipped ECU w/ B20 basemap in order to have the car run properly. If you use a stock LS ecu it will lean out. There may be small discrepancies in the harness wiring on the DA's but I'm not positive.
Head-wise you could also go B20/VTEC. Although, those are very tempermental motors and they must be built very specifically in order to run properly.
There is a P8R b20 head that has different flow characteristics from the p75.why? B20 heads are P75 casting = B18B
and there are minor differences between a PR4 (90-93) cylinder head vs a P75 (B18B) head
and B20Z cams are the same as B18B and the B20B intake camshaft is smaller than B18A/B
yes that is the one exception... im just assuming that most people who inquire about b20 head swaps are referring to the more commonly found USDM B20B/Z headThere is a P8R b20 head that has different flow characteristics from the p75.
Well, you've got a point there.yes that is the one exception... im just assuming that most people who inquire about b20 head swaps are referring to the more commonly found USDM B20B/Z head
He wanted options, I gave him one :what:why?
If you want no torque. There are better motor choices for a DA.B16A.
Problem Solved.
I think he was referring to using the b16a head and going LSV. Seeing as the thread topic is about switching heads, not motors. I could be mistaken though. If you want no torque. There are better motor choices for a DA.
