Hood Latch damage(pushed in)

Hi, hoping to get some help here. I just bought an 98 integra, I knew it had the damage, which was fine with me, I got the car for a good deal.

So here is my problem, the hood that is on it now is dented(smashed in a bit), along with the bumper, wasnt anything major accident, but enough to push in the hood latch area. So I went to buy a new hood, and bumper, pretty much a whole front clip today to replace, I went to close the new hood, and it overlapped the latch just a tad, causing it not to latch or close at all.

My question is, what can I do personally(not by taking it somewhere to get fixed) to get it to the point to where the new hood will latch down?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.'

Sounds like your core support is bent back some...I would try a large pry bar of some sort and slowly pull the middle of the core support back into shape until everything lines up. The body shops chain the car to the floor and then use a come-along to pull things back into shape.

yea that is what Im gathering from other forums, I will try this tommorow maybe, its not horribly bent back, but just enough to not let the new hood close all the way, thanks for the input!!

Is that picture you posted of the new front sheet metal or the old?

Definitely do the pulling/prying with the sheet metal off and the radiator out...no need to break anything while it's together....you can make final adjustments once you get the new stuff installed. Good luck.
