Have you had the transmission serviced lately? That were I would start. If the filter is cloged it will not alow it to shift properly. If you pull the dip stick, what color is the fluid, does it smell burnt?

the tranny fluid is at good level and the color is still red.... it does smell a lil burnt...just a lil.......but yeah ill check the filter and service it becuase i dont think its been done....

the temperature lever reads fine...

there is one more thing...before this started to happen it for the longest time when it would shift out of 3rd gear it would rev up and then grab the next gear...but that would never happen when the trans was cold it would be nice and smooth

dont mean to change the subject, but i've got a 90 tegra also thats an auto. how many miles u have on it? also i've got a wierd problem wen its cold my car wont electronically go in park and i cant get the key out. the trans will go in park but the park light wont go on and the key is stuck and will take about 5 to 10 minutes for the light to go on then i can get the key, but when it is warm there is no problem . has this ever happened to you? any guesses y its doing it?

well, i can't can't see the car and see exactly what it's doing but i'll throw a couple of things out there. if the car has to heat up before it will shift right it's probably because your rubber seals in the tranny are worn out and need to be changed. when it's cold it makes the already hard seals even harder and they won't seal right.if the tranny grabs you could have a leak within the tranny. even the smallest leak will make your trannynot ewant to shift. as far as the shifter, it could be off. the shift lever may need to be readjusted. also there may be something wrong within the wiring off your tranny and your pcm that causes a delay between the two. i'm thinking more like a high resistance problem.like i said though.i can't see it so i could be wrong.
