Maintenance Required?

Ok, so i've been using 91 gas for quite a while now on a stock LS. I then figured i was stupid and wasting too much money so yesterday i just switched to 89 octane, and then that night when i started up my car I would see the Maintenance Required light go on and off about 10 times then it would go off. I never noticed that before, so I dont know if its from the gas? Or what else it could of been?

They are not related, it is purely coincidental.

Using 91 octane in your stock LS is not necessary. The maintenance required light is a dummy light that comes on every so often to remind you to change your oil. It starts out blinking then will eventually stay lit. It can be reset by turning the ignition to on (but engine off) and there is a small button up underneath the steering wheel on the underside of the driver side dash, press and hold and it should reset

Yea you only need to run 87 octane in your LS. The only advantage you'll see to running a premium fuel are some gasses have additives in them to help reduce sludge buildup.

I think it's every 7500 miles that it comes on. I could be wrong though.
