Ok. ENGINE IS IN. ENGINE RUNS!

Only having a couple issues. Its dark out so Im not working on the car anymore for the night.

A. CEL. Code 14, Idle Air Control Valve. Im going to take it off tomorrow and clean it out, is there anything else I need to do to it? When I let off the gas my RPMs fall very low like the engine is about to die, but I dont get any shuddering. When it is fixed, will the CEL clear itself, or do I need to reset it (via unhooking the battery)?

B. My alternator belt squeals like no other. I thought it may be too tight, so I loosened the belt. It helped but not much. I reached down and the pulley is VERY hot on the alternator. I never had a reason to touch it before, and I dont think it should be getting hot.

C. While driving back from the gas station to top off on premium fuel (93 octane) My car shuddered slightly. I pushed the clutch in and released it and it stopped. Im going to make sure the clutch fluid is topped off in the morning, though I think the level is fine. I torqued down the flywheel and pressure plate to spec. Could the clutch just need some breaking in?

Thanks guys and help me out!

Edit: Too anxious to wait, went outside and checked things out.
A. IACV plug was unplugged. :)
C.Clutch fluid is low. I need to top it off.

Everything except the squealing/heat on the alternator. I bought a bolt/nut from homedepot to hold the bottom in place until the one I paid for at Acura gets here on tuesday. I dont think thats the problem with it though. Im going to take it over to pepboys and get another belt, thats a little smaller so the adjustment isnt maxed out. Its pushed farthest away and still has slack, which I think is the problem.

yea I had the same problem when I swapped the booger. My alt belt was maxed for the adjustment, went to the next size down and never had a problem since

Thanks Cary. I had my Honda mechanic neighbor adjust my dizzy to get the timing on point. I was so excited to back it ot of the drive way :)

Robbie, I plan on getting that radiator tomorrow after finishing up the few problems it has and laying down 50-100 miles on it. I'll give you a call when Im in the area. I dont have any specific time frame I will be leaving, so I dont know when I will get out there.

BTW- PM me your number, in case i dont go to nova
Will do. The guy who is selling the radiator is way further north than I thought. His ad said Richmond and Nova. I just assumed Richmond, so I wont be picking it up today. It may be cheaper just to have him ship it to me, so I will have to inquire about that.

As for the car,

Got a new alternator belt which is slightly smaller, no more squealing. Topped off the clutch fluid resevoir and plugged in my IACV. No more CEL :) and nice smoooooooth idle.

yay! so exciting!! congrats on gettin her running!
Thanks Shanna.

Little update on the car. I have put 350 miles on it so far and have noticed some noises coming from the motor. Theres a couple things that are missing from the bay, such as a bolt on the tranny T bracket, and a nut on the driverside engine mount (I know I know, last weekend was raining and I didnt get a chance to put them back on).

The noises im afraid may be from a lack of oil pressure. It doesnt dip below 5PSI, I would know because the "omg the engine is dead" dummy light would come on. I am in the process of getting parts to install a oil pressure gauge to replace the dummy light. I have the mechanical oil gauge, the braided line, and need a couple adapters to put them all together. This will give me visual evidence whether or not I am losing oil pressure at higher RPMS.

Im using a mechanical oil pressure gauge instead of an electronic one because well, I didnt do much research and the mechanical gauge was cheaper. If I could do it over again I would most likely get a smaller braided line and run a electronic gauge so I didnt have an oil line running into the cabin. It will go in place of my dimmer switch, and I will most likely need to cut the hole out a little larger to fit the 2-1/16 gauge.

I personally think you might be loosing oil pressure ( if thats the case) from to large of clearances on your bearings. When you had the shop redo you bottom end, did you go behind them and double/ triple cheak of tolerances in your bearings?

No Robbie I did not plastigauge my mains and rod caps. I should have, but I simply rushed through it and bolted it all together. I installed the oil pressure gauge and appear to have good oilpressure throughout the RPM band. Cold start its at 85 PSI, until it reaches normal operating temperature. Idle is then at 16-18 PSI and I have about 55psi at 2500 RPM, 65 at 3000 RPM, and peaks at 85-89 PSI until I reach top RPM (So far I havent rev'd beyond 5k.)

I heard a big clunk a couple days ago, thought I ran something over and didnt pay much attention to it. Looking in the bay the next day nothing seemed out of place. Today I noticed a big rattle at idle, and popped the hood. Listening closely to the location of the rattle, I noticed it was coming from the A/C compressor. 2 bolts came out, and 2 were loose. That big clank I heard was one bolt falling out and then hitting the bottom of the car...

Heres new new digital oil pressure gauge
