RAI? Racing air intake?

Im sure all the intake piping is there mostly to increase the chrome in the engine bay. There shouldnt be a need for the intake to wrap around the entire engine. It would have been much more efficient if it went down near the driver side wheel.

i meant ram air but was too shocked to put the correct acronym....that MESS looks disastrous....

That's just the standard 3000GT VR4 setup but he has hard pipes instead of the stock rubber IC piping. That's nothing odd.

thats exactly what it is. Notice how the intake in the front of the engine dips down. It doesnt actually connect with that pipe wrapping around the engine. Its dipping down to the turbo. And the pipes off the TB are dipping down the the IC. That engine is what I like to call HELL! I would charge $150/hr to work on that sucker!

That thing is definitely HELL to work on.
You realize that the easiest way to do a timing belt service on that motor is to drop it out of the bay? The right bank is a bitch to get to, especially the exhaust cam.
I saw a guy blow his VR4'smotor on the dyno back in VB by over boosting it. The shop had a buddy of theirs that specializes in 3000GT's come in for the rebuild. I was talking to him and he told me a bunch of shit about how much a pain in the ass they are. Sadly, he got the 3KGT bug where we got the Honda bug.(Though I still have a DSM bug in me too...:))

They're too much hassle to work on. If you want AWD and Turbo, get a Talon or a WRX. Both are much easier to work on.
if you really want a VR4, get a 92 Galant VR4:thumbs up
