1g DSM crushed BOV question

What's up ma teg heads? Quick question, didn't find anything searching here or google. (-_-#) I need a BOV for my setup I just got. I will be running 7-8psi with a T3/T04e setup. My friend has a crushed 1g dsm bov he will sell me for cheap. My question is, will a crushed dsm bov not be practical for my current setup? My other friend says that there is a probability for compressor surge because it is crushed and therefore stiffer. I feel like a noob so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'd stay away from that if I were you. You can get relatively cheap BOVs that are actually right for your application if you look around for deals.

If you're only looking to run 7-8 PSI, just get a virgin 1G DSM BOV. They will hold around 18-20 psi without being crushed.

Those cheaper BOV like that, let me rephrase that....ESPECIALLY that one, have inferior diaphragms that will wear our prematurely. They are however, identical to the Greddy BOV. So as a slightly cheaper alternative, you can buy one of those and swap in a Greddy diaphragm.

hmm didint know that might do that now! i havent seen any problems yet on the camaros ive seen them on but i'll take your word for it :D

Many people turbo'ing other cars may not notice small leaks like that. But in the DSM community it's common practice to keep close tabs on boost leaks....and the CX Racing BOV usually becomes one of the culprits. Many people run them with Greddy diaphragms with sucess though.

Yea i know that haha i have a friend with a talon and he's always fixing boost leaks lol! and everything else! haha but i'll ave to pick one up then!

You do realize, if you're on a tight budget, you could just get a 1G DSM BOV that will hold 20psi without having to worry about leaks for $40 right? ;)

Seems like a better solution than a knock-off

Alright well i've come to the conclusion that I am not going to get the crushed 1g. Anyone know of the 2g DSM BOVs. I have a friend with a stock one off his eclipse he said he'd sale me. I would love a virgin 1g DSM but i've been waiting so long to finally turbocharge my teg I was hoping to get it done this weekend hence if I don't have to wait on shipping I don't want to. All I am in need of is a BOV. So are the 2g DSM BOVs as crappy as I hear? Feedback from anyone? Thanks everyone.

*EDIT* Eh nvrmind peeps, i'm just gonna pick up this RFL Bov I can get for cheap. Thanks for all yalls input. I'll be posting pics of the work sometime soon. Got lots of parts to install. :)

2G DSM bovs are crap. I have a virgin 1G DSM bov I'll sell you for $25 shipped

lol i would get one but i got my knockoff for free! lol so ill settle till it starts leakin
