5 speed swap on a 1990 integra

im in the process of getting all the parts together to swap my 1990 db1 to 5 speed and i found a 93 5 speed parts car for cheap but am wondering since in 92 they changed to obd1 will the 5 speed swap from the 93 work in my 90 or did stuff change when they changed to obd1

The ECU might not, but the trans, linkage and pedals will work.

do you need to use a 5 speed ecu or can you just jump the wires to make it think its in park all the time?

I don't think you jump any wires. It should work even with an auto ECU in it, it will just kick a CEL.

i think i heard you have to switch to a manual ecu cause otherwise the car is going to be trying to tell itself to shift while your driving...

Hmm, I thought it would just throw a code for the trans not working correctly. There wont be any hardware for the ECU to signal to shift, so how would it affect the drive-ability?

^i dunno... maybe it wont. but that is what i have heard. i know on DC's you need a new ecu

incorrect! u do need a 5spd ecu, if ur going to use ur auto ecu the car wont start because the car doesnt know what gear its in... there's another way to by pass it but its a longer explanation that I dont feel like typing now... PM me if u want

Isn't the conversion of the ECU from auto to manual just changing the position of two resistors.

Just get the right ECU. Do it right the first time.
