hey guys... ok so this is a totally stupid question but I CAN'T seem to find the answer no matter how hard i look or how many different ways i re-word it in google.

GM synchromesh. I hear a lot of good things about it. how great it is, and how it can completely eliminate grinding, and what not. so many people swear by it!

what is it?

how do you put it in?

how much do you use?

those are the 3 questions that I just can't find the frikkin answers to.

veterans get your laughs out! before responding plz. I swear this is my last resort to finding out. i have exhausted every avenue except going down to a shop and asking. lol.

thanks guys. let me know.

Its transmission fluid

There are drain and fill bolts on the transmission on the passenger side behind the wheel. Search for changing transmission fluid for an integra, Im sure team-integra.net has an article on it.

You drain your transmission and fill it with ~4 quarts

The one you are referring to is called GM Synchromesh Friction Modified. It is different from regular GM Synchromesh.

oh, ok. right on. thanks guys.

umm.. someone said that there is a difference between the GM synchromesh and the GM synchromesh friction modified?

I have a 96 ls that is grinding 3rd only when i drive fast. and I have had it for about a year, and I noticed that it's just not shifting as smooth as i remembered.

so which one should I use?

and what are the differences?

Why not just flush the fluid and fill with Honda trans fluid. It should make it shift better but only use the GM stuff if you have grinding problems.

If you are trying to reduce grinds caused by worn synchros then the one you want to use the GM Synchromesh Friction Modified.
