i know i should know this already but i just want to make sure. my car is stock, so my question is from 0mph to what is 1st gear. From what to what is 2nd gear so on and so forth
thanks
thanks
yea i listen to my engine when shifting up(Because i dont have a radio). im not worried about shifting up, only just downshifting. im going to be on the freeway and there might be stop and go traffic which im also concerned for my clutchI think most people go off the sound of their engine or their tachometer, not really mph. But maybe thats just me. If your interested though I'm pretty sure your owners manual gives you the mph at which to shift up. At least the one that came with my civic did.
i usually (always) shift around 3.5 - 4
I'm with you guys on that one. I shift between 3-4 because shifting there makes sure I stay out of vtec and keeps my gas mileage decent.i go 3-4
What RPM does your's engage?I'm with you guys on that one. I shift between 3-4 because shifting there makes sure I stay out of vtec and keeps my gas mileage decent.
5300rpms. Since I'm on a chipped p28 I don't have the secondary butterflies operating. So Instead of hitting Vtec at 4400(I think thats stock) then the secondaries opening at 5300 or 5500(I don't remember which it is), I only have one stage of Vtec at 5300.What RPM does your's engage?
Uh, no. You could just look in the spec sheets and do a little math.JuniorDA[LS];509595 said:^^^^wait lemme see if i got this right. from 0-10mph is 1st gear, 10mph-20mph is 2nd gear, 20mph-30mph is 3rd gear, 30mph-40mph is 4th gear, and 40mph-up is 5th gear. right???
Uh, no. You could just look in the spec sheets and do a little math.
For a stock, 5 speed, DA LS, the factors that matter should be:
1st: 3.230
2nd: 1.900
3rd: 1.269
4th: .966
5th: .742
Final Drive: 4.266
Stock Tires: 195/60-14
Redline: 7000 rpm
That should translate to top speeds for each gear about:
1st: 35
2nd: 60
3rd: 90
4th: 119
5th: 154
Obviously you wouldn't want to downshift into 2nd at 55 mph or something stupid like that though
