what are your opinions on na vs turbo... and what is a good size engine to be using na.

I like both, but plan on going turbo on my teg. I would go with at least B18, but personally... If I went N/A mine would be bored to 84mm and stroked. Go big or GTFO.

For N/A, I would at least go with a B18 engine. If you go with a B16, even fully built, you won't have that much torque.
As far as boost vs N/A, I like both, but boost is..well...its boost. N/A is gonna take a lot of work to make decent HP.

Take this into consideration before you make a decision on whether to boost or not. NA is expensive compared to a tubo setup to make some good numbers.

Very expensive to go n/a and get big numbers, if you just want something to smoke people on the highway and around town go with a turbo setup.

well right now im going to start na and then throw the turbo on later this way i know it can handle the extra power with no problem, prob start with the air intake and move to the headers before considering turbo

basically i want it to be nice, its my project car getting a new engine so i have plenty of time to toy with it :)

personally i think n/a should be the way to go.. yes, i have a boosted hatch..
there are just so many problems to go wrong and parts you have to upgrade to run boost.
n/a you pretty much just put on parts and run it.

N/A is best!
I'll take N/A any day. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing a nasty turbo car rip down the track/roads, but IMO it's not worth it.

I would rather a car that runs mid/high 13's that has a full interior with A/C and power steering over a car that does 12's and better, but has no luxuries what so ever. A turbocharged car is going to have a lot of headaches. Loads of little bullshit that goes wrong, it always needs tinkering and you still have a constant worry of it failing some how.

I'm with Omni, I like both styles. There is plenty of fun to be had with either one.

And N/A car never fail right?

The car is only good as it's owner, no matter if it's N/A, turbo or supercharged. You mistreat it and neglect it, it's going to fall apart.

Going boosted also doens't mean you have to throw your a/c or power steering out.

My turbo ls I had was a lot more reliable then my stroked gsr motor. And it was twice as fast.

I'm cosigning with DC2gsr and Ominous, both have their ups and downs but don't think that not having a turbo is going to make your life easier. If all you add is i/h/e then maybe but once you start adding cams and changing compression it's a whole new story.

I like both tuning routes, but I prefer NA. Like Kyle (dc2GS-R) said, the car is only as good as its owner. FI and NA engines both require maintenance to run at optimum performance.

NA or bust.

I don't mind turbos, but after I had some fun in a friends turbo DA, I felt like it was cheating to get fast. lol.

I'd rather shell out top dollar on a high HP NA motor.

My setup will be a sleeved B20VTEC running an 85mm bore and MAYBE a 92mm Brian Crower Stroker kit (among other bottom end goodies :) ) My setup will be elaborate to say the least, but should produce quality numbers with a good powerband/torque curve.. I have heavily considered an ITB setup, as well.
