^ nice roll bar, same one that i got...yea it does add weight but you can still get your car down there in weight...i weighted my car with the roll bar, me and my friend in my car at a weight station and it was 2700 lbs...so like 2370 w/ nothing in it

I was about to put in a roll cage or roll bar but decided not because I still wanted my car to truely be a street car but just racing inspired. That's why I am going with just a spearco harness bar. Maybe, an EM racing 4 point brace for the track.

Thumbs up to u for running a roll bar in a street car.

Like matt said, I better see some track pictures.

haha what happened to go big or go home?

we think a like. i already thought about this, thats why i got the roll bar vs roll cage. the roll bar will be semi hidden in the rear cabin vs the exposed roll cage in the front cabin, and for the price of a sparco harness bar, you can add a tad more for a roll bar. i paid a lil extra cause of the bolt in design with the additional bars. im hoping it will make the ride more stable and stiff. plus i wanna get the windows tinted at some point, so the bar will be less noticable... sunny san diego and black interior is a killer, haha.

EM Racing Brace FTW!!! only problem is that it makes it harder to remove the spare tire :p

^Oh it's still going big, that why we opting for a R motor instead of an S. All the things i have exposed to the world is just my street setup. I still have my race setup that i am putting together. It's still a secret. Maybe once the car is running i will tell you guys about it.

got a call from the machine shop earlier in the week... and had time to go pick it up this weekend so its time for a small update

The damage on as spun bearing on cylinder 3 and a tad on 4. valve seals on the head were a tad loose/worn out. so all in all the damage to the wallet wasn't too bad. almost the same cost as a b18b LS motor from hmotors. I also bought the gasket kit and bearing set from them too to make things less of a headache to buy somewhere else. at this rate... seeing how things are, this motor isn't going to be til another month.

so i mainly spent the day cleaing out and re arranging the garage so i can have room to work on the motor and more the engine stand around. the block and head is bling bling s0n! haha, so fresh and so clean.

is there a incorrect way to mount the motor on the engine stand? only thing i installed is the itr alumminum a/c bracket.

THE BIG SUPRISE IS NEAR
Nice Build!!!

BTW: Roll cages are need in the street car class when your going faster than 11.00 . Still considered a street car. :p

a little progress was made last weekend. aftering seeing how everything was assembled... its not too difficult for the average joe with the right tools to put this together. of course i didn't do it myself, my buddy had all the tools and with all the experience he had, i was the helper and taking lots of visual notes. the key thing is to be super careful not to make any scratches in the fresh cylinder walls and when installing the pistons w/ rods to be careful they are aligned to drop in straight on the crankshaft. other than that, knowing all the torque specs is a must.

basically slapped in the crank and pistons w/ rods, along with the head. since the cams were already out... i figured i might as well swap out with valve springs and retainers with the skunk2s. got these from matt awhile back which he got from... 8urcivic i believe... hookin the C-I community up, good shit ya

debating if i should run the ctr intake cam or the stage 2 cams... leaning more towards the ctr since i just wanna break the motor in. either way it'll be install with the pro series cam gears :) they look way better than the tuner series.

gotta order a couple more parts like the water pump and oil pump and misc hoses and wat not. the list goes on still... haha. im guessing we're only 1/4 of the way done to putting this sucker in and having it started.

addition to the mod.

been talking to some dude on h-t for awhile and we finally had time to meet up for the exchange. he had a comptech header that ive been looking for some time now. its the 4-2-1 one piece and it isn't polished but its stainless steel tho, so thats fine with me. way better than the janky smashed up 4-1 DC ss header. with the 4-2-1 design it should provide a little mid range gains, nothing to krazy. i've always wanted the tri-y or the rmf header, but they're a tad pricey with very nice gains in hp + tq but definately not carb legal. maybe ill get a pair for the track :what:

but yea, some onto the pics :thumbs up

OEM VS. Comptech

after looking at the design and the width of the pipping, it isn't too different from the stock, however the outlet diamter is definately larger and with the weight comparison, the comptech is definately lighter. the previous dc header i had, the pipping was lot bigger/wide compared to the comptech. and i also noticed that the outlet of the header seems to look like it sagging compared to the oem one... but it shouldn't look that way hopefully once its attached to the rest of the pipping. sorta thinking about getting some heat wraps... not sure tho, im iffy on it

Khoa, your PM box is full. Since it's full, I figured I'd ask you here.

I'm sure we talked about this already, but do you know if they're a way to make a c-pillar bar work on our DB8s?
