My Jetta VR6 vs. Integra DC2! Uh Ohs!

This Saturday, my bro went to some "Honda" meet in the morning, and I had to work, which was ghey. And apparently my bro left and found several of our buddy's with fast cars hanging out, so he joined them. So I got off work a couple hours later, and met everyone out in the country roads.

The second I got there, I got lined up with an Integra GSR /w a JDM front & Mugen Bodykits. I know the guy, and have been wanting to run him for awhile now.... A little background on the DC2... After the run we got him to pop his hood, because I did.

DC2 power mods:
B20/VTEC
Short ram intake
header
exhaust
cat-delete
AEM cam gears
AEM fuel rail
AEM fuel pressure regulator
99% sure he has some sort of cams
he claims it's not tuned, but i'm pretty sure it is
fully built ignition system also
It's basically fully built All Motor, except for forged pistons, etc.

My "Mods":
custom DIY stock intake box /w OEM VW air filter still in....
exhaust cutout
GIAC chip

Okay the lowdown of the run:

I did a quick burnout to get all the dirt off my tires. Then he did the same. We lined up, I steadied my rpm's @ around 2500rpms, and the guy flagged us real quick, and I slipped the clutch a little too hard and my tires started spinning pretty bad, so I almost completely let off the gas, and got on it a tad too late, and it stopped spinning, but bogged a little. During this moment, the DC2 pulled out about 1/2 a Fender, but I hit my powerband in 1st gear and pulled away. Then 2nd gear I had him by at least a car length, and then a few seconds through 3rd gear I had him by about 1.5 car lengths.... Well, I saw him in my passenger side rear-view mirror; and my side mirrors are set so I can see the side of my car, so that's saying something!

Haha

Who knows...... His car rarely gets any traction in 1st gear though. But that still doesn't account for him not catching me in 3rd gear....

His excuse was, "I don't have my Cold-Air on... Anyone have a flathead?" wow

VR6's are quick man, my buddy that had a 2000 gsr now has a 98 vr6 and he says that the v-dub is much quicker. And I can vouch for that, his gsr only would put 1-1.5 cars on my car and now the v-dub puts easily a bus on me. Sad but true, thus my turbo build started lol

Haha, Yeah, most VR6's are faster than GSR's.

Not sure. I'm going to the track on Friday.

it depends on which vr6 it has. A 12 valve vr6 will get inched on by a gsr. But a 24 valve vr6 will beat a gsr all day. Plus it matters which body style it is. A mk3 only came in a 12 valve, and the mk4's had the 24 valve from 2002 1/2? The mk3 will be faster in the 12 valve though since it is lighter. Difference in the motors is a jump from somewhere around 170hp to 200hp i think. Correct me if im wong on any of this.

i mean there's no way of telling how much power the 'teg was making with a B20 and those mods...but your MKIII is relatively stock and rated at about 170hp from the factory, not to mention significantly heavier.

it most likely came down to you being the better driver..i'll tell you what though if it was me in the 'teg..you would've seen taillights:lol:

I'm thinking irregardless of MY or valve count, a VR6 Jetta doesn't make enough power to overcome the weight disadvantage. Especially because the GSR's lower gearing and higher rev range..it would jump ahead everytime the Jetta has to shift.
The only chance a Jetta would have is off the line where it would smash the GSR in low-end.

If it s MKIII they make 174 and are high 14 sec cars off the lot

If its a MKIV they are a 12valve its 174 and are high 15 sec cars
24 valve mid 14 sec car...
