Ive got a no-name shift knob that Ive been trying to clean up. It started turning this blueish-gray color, which I guess is oxidation. I dont know what metal changes this color when it oxidizes, but I recently managed to polish it up with some Brasso metal polish, and I clearcoated it. That lasted about a week, and as moisture from my hand and the intense heat in the car (which DIRECTLY transfers into the knob, wow does it get hot) it wore off, and looked like crap again. I just took it off and cleaned it up nicely again, but Im looking for a more permanent way to keep it looking nice. Any ideas?
