speaker crackling/popping

my speakers crackle/pop when the music is playing. I have to adjust the fader to play in the rear more than the front for the crackle/pop to be LESS noticeable. The noise is still there when you turn the music up. Do I need new speakers?

Yep, seems like an acute case of blown speaker. Are they the stock speakers?

I think they might be aftermarket, it says alpine on them. Previous owner put them in. What kind of speakers should I get? I might want to get a small powered sub (don't really want a box) and amp. Give me some suggestions guys :) Should I replace the tweeters as well?

I have always liked infinity speakers... and I had some rockford fosgates that were really good.... basically you get what you pay for, for the most part and every person has their favorite brand.... so you just gotta find a speaker you like and buy it... the end

I'm an audio newb. I was browsing through crutchfield and came across "powered subs" and I think it said its a sub and amp combined? If thats the case, would I still need to buy an amp or can I just buy one of these "powered subwoofers"

powered subs are made to help conserve space. so if you want a compact setup go powered but you wont get as much power as you could with a separated setup.

update: Everytime I drive over a bump on the road, my music stops playing and when I drive over another bump, it starts playing again and the crackling/popping sound is more noticeable now. Are all my speakers dying if this happens?

Wait... What?
That is a head unit problem. If the speakers aren't new and they are cracking and popping they are worn out and you need new ones.
