My new little project....

I'm going to be using my OEM airbox as my Race intake. Sound funny? Well it won't after I show you guys the finished product.... (It's for my Jetta VR6)

Objective: I'm going to be taking my OEM airbox and drilling Multiple holes in the bottom half to optimize airflow.

Along with that, I still need to order a new K&N drop-in filter, because there's no way i'm going to re-use this POS Fram filter...

Along with drilling holes in it; as you can see, there are little baffle walls in the box, which i'm going to take out with a grinder or sander or something to help smoothen out airflow as well.

AND, i'm going to use a velocity funnel for the outlet of the airbox.... (The part where the MAF tube hooks up to the airbox) To help channel more air better into the engine.

what the hell is an iceman intake? Lol

You're talking about the ARC induction box? I'm also very tempted to make one of those with a K&N drop-in filter on the top....

But it's been bench-tested, and "swiss-cheesing" this OEM airbox flows Just as good as a full $300 intake system.

So instead of drilling a lot of holes, I decided to just cut away half the box

Note the little velocity stacks placed inside the inlets........ :thumbs up

Damn you OEM filter! I need a K&N drop-in......

New box installed!

I also wrapped the outside in teh same heat-reflective material, and also placed another heatsheild in between the box and motor to prevent even more heat-soak...

Note the air-ducting bring in cold air into the airbox....
