What is the mounting depth for speakers? 2" or 2 1/4"?

Need to find out how much space I have before I hit the window glass in the door panel when installing speakers.

The new speakers I have have a mounting depth of 2.5". How much clearance do I need to install it safely?

Asking so I know what thickness of MDF I will need. Thanks.

probably dont want to use MDF because it will swell due to moisture. I made some out of 3/4 or 5/8 plywood, then painted it to help protect them more. I think the depth until you hit glass is 2in.

*edit* I ended up just ordering a pair of pre-cut spacers off of ebay for 10 bucks. 3/4".
