crankcase ventilation?

i just got my turbo back from being rebuilt and when it boosts white smoke comes out so i called forcedperformance since they just rebuilt it and the guy there said that it sounds like a crankcase ventilation problem and since i don't have a airfilter on it and i was wondering what airfilter should i go with?

the air filter have nothing to do with the crankcase ventilation, do you still have your pcv(Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve) hooked up correctly, or maybe your PCV is bad. but for someone reason i dont think that would cause your turbo to smoke, have you done a leak down or comp test?

i think its hooked up correctly does it have to be hooked up a different way when for turbo?

no i didn't do a compression test or leak down because it only smokes under boost and its a motor that ran perfect when it was pulled with 70k miles on it before i swapped it into my car

age 15? lol

do you know what the pcv system is?
not really?

it dosent matter if it just under boost, your just putting alot more stress on the engine when your pushing air into a engine, i would do a leak down test, i'm guesing a blowin head gasket, and no it dosent have to be hooked up different when turbo'ed

if its a gsr, its on the back on of the block, if its an ls i'm not sure

your pcv closes under boost(its vacuum controlled), so yeah if you dont have a catch can or anything, you are probably having some really high crankcase pressure's which will kill your piston rings

so your saying to unhook the hose in the center of the valve cover and hook up another hose with like a bottle on the end for a oil catch can?

no. definitely not sayin to do that. you need to either get some bungs welded onto your valve cover and buy an external catch can. like so:

Could be due to no blow-by gases being released. Definitely change that it's not really an option with a turbocharged car no matter what the set-up. However i would still test the engine via leakdown test too. White smoke is usually coolant related.

okay so we ran a leakdown test and that passed ran a compression test and got 150 on all cylinders is that bad? cause we hooked up a catch can and its still smoking

Is your turbo water-cooled? I would think it wouldn't be a turbo issue if Forced Performance just reworked it. They are very good with turbos, but then again, they are still human. Anything is possible
