I've been working on cars since I was born but they were nasty drag beasts that would gargle gas. I've been looking for parts to hot rod my little 95 gsr and am noticing ebay is really cheap compared to like all the big parts suppliers, is ebay really that junky or are they just cheap.

The best philosophy I've every heard was from a shop owner when I asked him why he only sells certain brands, even though they are expensive. He replied (to paraphrase): 'You can spend $1000 on 10 ebay parts, be lucky if you make any positive difference to your car, and have to replace them all in a year. Or you can buy one part from JUN/Tanabe/Tein/Cusco and KNOW you've made a choice that will leave you happy for the life of your car.'

^what he said. now buying name brand parts isnt that bad of a deal. as long as you can trust that your buying the real deal

you get what you pay for. sounds annoying but its the facts sometimes. certain things should be bought brand new, some things used... etc.

there's plenty of "ebay vs brand parts" threads. if not make a thread and we'll chime in

i bought an intake on ebay... that is all will buy for my car on ebay tho... and the filter was replaced immediately. i just used the pipe, because really its just a pipe... a pipe is a pipe is a pipe... i mean come on.

but anything else i wouldnt do... horror storied about there turbo kits... shitty welds on everything ebay brand, and nothing will last.

there is nothing wrong with buying name brand parts off ebay. i always make sure im buying from an authorized dealer though, most manufacturers wont stand behind their warranty unless its thru an authorized dealer.
