just a couple quick questions. any help is appreciated. thank you.

1: Is the jdm b18c (5) obd2a? or obd2b?

2: Is the USDM P72 oda? or obd2b?

What im trying to figure out is will i need a conversion harness between my jdm b18c(5) and a usdm p72 ecu... and if ill need any jumper to my dash harness...

Thank you again.

Fawk a Title!
b18c5 where made 97-98 and 00-01... so depending on the year the motor and/or ecu is then depends what version obd2 it is...

you are correct

u noted b18c(5) which doesn't exist in Japan... nonetheless its an obd2a
I believe i said "jdm B18C (5)" not jdm b18c5.

So the engine harness from a "JDM B18C (5)" will work directly with the USDM P72

hey tardo. so, some information... you know. when it comes to English? The fact that it is in parentheses means im not talking about whats tagged on the motor. Just distinguishing it from lets say... Gsr - B18C (1), VTI-R - B18C (2), ITR - B18C (3), UKDM and EURO SPEC civic - B18C (4), JDM ITR - B18C (5), USDM ITR - B18C5, UKDM and EURO spec ITR - B18C (6), and of course the AUSTRALIA ITR - B18C (7)... Make sense jerk-wad?

Ill be sure to say B18Cr just for you little boy! hows that sound?

thanks for the help tho. much appreciated.

That's not enough info to answer you question. You need to know what year model the engine and ECU are from.

- The JDM B18C can be either a GSR or ITR engine. It can be either OBD1, OBD2a or OBD2b

- P72 is a USDM GSR ECU. They can also be OBD1, OBD2a or OBD2b.

PS - A '96 model engine is OBD2a.

Thank you for being polite, organize and thuro with your information. your the only person that actually helped me.

GRATCI

Is it correct that the 96 spec JDM ITR motor (do avoid conflict) is also obd2a? and will work directly with the 96 p72

It should work with that ECU, but it will not be optimal. The P72 ECU is tuned for the lower compression and to take advantage of the lower VTEC engagement of the GSR and with it's dual stage intake manifold

ok makes sense. Im just asking because i do need to use the p72 in order to get the vehicle b.a.r.e.d. after that i will use the ecu that comes with the swap.
