okay so i just hooked up my autometer z-series air fuel ratio gauge in my teg according to the diy on t.i. but the only problem is that the diy is for an obd1 and mine is an obd2...i dont kno which wire exactly to tap the purple wire into the wires going into the ecu? so i just hooked it up to a white/red wire...the gauge powers on and everthing thing but it only lights up the last green bar and it stays lit...its been like that for a whole day now? did i do anything wrong? help please...

First thing, why hook it into the ecu? Is this a wideband or narrowband? I'm assuming narrowband since you are just wiring it in. For starters, these suck. Hooking it up is easy. Rather than try splicing it into your ecu and starting a fire or splicing into the wrong wire, why not just hook into your o2 sensor? The guage has a power wire, a ground wire, and a signal wire if memory serves me right. Your o2 sensor has 4 wires-2 black, 1 white, and 1 brown. Splice into the white one (I think-it's been awhile). You should be a ble to google this as there are so many DYI's. I would avoid trying to splice into your ecu wiring unless you plan onputting some shrink seal around it (crimping or electrical tape for splicing is just wrong). Good luck. THe only bad thing is that your o2 sensor is going to bounce back and forth-never really indicating what your a/f ratio is, only giving you a hint at it.

A narrow band will till you if you are rich or lean, but it won't tell you the exact amount. It's better than nothing, I guess-but isn't very good for tuning.

It doesn't really matter how you hook it up. Narrowband A/F gauges are just a colorful blinking decoration anyway

Back in 2003 when I realized these were garbage, I wired mine into my horn so it became a blinking "horn gauge"....go figure, it was actually accurate at reading a horn press!
