header installation tips?

wuddup guys im installing a 4-2-1 greddy header on my 98 GSR and this is only my 2nd bolt on... anybody have any tips for me or any problems i might encounter? As far as im concerned unbolt and bolt right? Also will i need any other tools than a socket wrench and sockets? and one mor questions i had ***will i need to torque the bolts that go on the cyclinders or any other spots need torquing?***

Yea man it's all bolts off and on again, it's recomended to switch out the manifold gasket for the new one that came with your header, but all mines came with those cheap ebay one' that felt more like paper so I just went and bought a new oem one to switch it out with. You would only need basic tools for this and make sure to disconnect the sensors when you get underneath the car there.

you might also breaking some nuts and bolts too do to rust i know i did and i replaced them with stainless steel ones they are pricey just for nuts and bolts but in the long run you will like it

ok thanks for the help guys and where is the o2 sensor locations for the 98 GSR? somone told me one one beggening of cat before honeycomb and one on header....but i dont see any spot for the o2 sensor to go on my new header...any help? THANKS

some integras had shorter headers and 2 o2 sensors on the cat. have you been under the car yet to look?

nahh i have not actually. borrowing ramps soon to do it i was jsut curious becuase i dont see any spot on my bolt on greddy header for an o2 sensor.

is it for a gsr? when i put a header on my single cam the O2 sensor was seized into the stock header so I had to buy a new O2 sensor. also, be careful as when I was torquing the bolts that go into the head one of them broke. took about 30 mins to do since i still havent drilled out the broken stud. also, most of the cardboard composite gaskets that headers come with a POS, so go get an OEM/metal gasket. the ones from autozone seem to work just fine.

First thing, is the header you bought for a 98? That will make a big difference in fittament. If all you need is a o2 sensor bung you could take it to a muffler shop and have one put it (provided that everything lines up). The bungs cost around $2-3 and a shop will drill your manifold and weld for under $15. I suspect you might have the wrong header.

nope 98 gsr's have the o2 sensor on beginning of cat. no o2 sensor on the header. anyways..installation went great ill post some pics when i have some time

94-99 GSR dont have no o2 on the header, only on the cat

bseries is easy! Try k series esp. the new si! i had to drop the subframe go at it from the top the bottom this side that side. heat wrap this wire, bend this sheild. oh yea and to get at it from the top u gotta take the cowl cover and sheild off. also getting a torque wrench up there was mad fun!

what exhaust are you running? i'm having a hard time finding an aftermarket header that will bolt onto a 60mm (about 2.3 inches) exhaust without any bottlenecking. most headers have a 2.5" outlet.
