For the past few weeks i've had this sidejob in the works, now it's finally here.. Let me start by saying this IS NOT MY CAR just so everyone is clear. Just a sidejob my friend and i wanted to take on for experience/fun/money. The car is a 1995 Nissan 200sx with the SR20DE engine. The engine is being pulled for a SR20DET swap. The swap will be all factory including the turbo. What WILL be different is a full 3" dp/exhaust, front mount ic and piping with a greddy bov, wideband and some gauges. Should be a fun little car once it's all done. I'll be posting up pics as we go but here's where were at as of last night.

** The "shop" however is mine and i took a shot of the teggy too :) Enjoy...

looking good don't be embarrassed to say that you own a nissan with a sr20det engine. Those cars can be pretty fast if tuned right.

Coming from a previous nissan guy, why are you swapping the 2 liter out for the same motor? You could have saved some money and upgraded the sr20 to be better.

Are you saying he could have turbocharged the SR20DE instead of buying the factory turbo unit SR20DET? I'm not a nissan guy at all so i assumed the differences in the engines were like a B18C1 to a B18C5.

Oh and the SR20 that we pulled out was a piece. Its leaking oil EVERYWHERE. If it were to be kept and upgraded it would need quite the refresh.

New clutch in the teg FTW!

Is that a dual exhaust on the 200?
Yes sir and a new trans ;)

And yes that's a dual exhaust....not what i would have done but hey it's not my car and he wants to be different. It's a full 3" all the way back though which is cool. The downpipe is also being custom made and will be 3"

Yes.
The DET has:
-oil squirter piston coolers
-a bigger oil pump.
-a different front pulley.
-lower compression pistons (8.3:1 vs 9.5:1).
-bigger injectors.
-direct ignition.
-a variable intake cam, runs retarded at idle, advanced mid range and retarded top end.
-mechanical shim in bucket type lifters with a slightly bigger in duration exhaust cam.

Everything is interchangeable though between the two motors. You are saving time, I don't know about money, either way it's not a bad way to go. Just some fyi.
