Megan does suck so I'm not questioning the possibility that the flange is angled completely wrong. But I'm curious to what catalytic converter and catback you are running. You do realize that the 94-99 GSR header and cat is shorter while the catback is longer right? If you mix and match parts from an LS, ITR, B20 or 00-01 GSR they wont fit right.

The 94-99 header is about 2" shorter. The cat is about 2.5" shorter while the B-pipe is 4.5" longer to make up the difference. All of the coupe axle backs are the same

i have never used that bracket underneath. im not sure how it would cause more stress on the manifold studs as long as your motor mounts are in good shape. seriously just go to an exhaust shop and have them fit the flange to your exhaust, it should only be like 20 bucks.
think about it. that bracket helps keep the header from moving so it won't crack.your exhaust moves when you drive and that movement puts too much stress on the header.

in my pics you can see the header should fit. it's not too long or too short, everything is pretty close to lining up. i have my stock cat and exhaust. if the bracket and flange were welded on straight then it would bolt up.
