looking to buy and looking for advice

I am looking to buy a 3rd gen integra.
Is it a problem to buy one with over 150,000 miles? I will have to drive it without modification for some time before I can afford any modification. Also will be a daily driver...
What is a reasonable price? I know what blue book says...
Should I look for one with no Mods, very few mods?

I was looking at one: 95 GSR... but its been lowered and has rims and a carbon hood and many more not listed... price for this one is $5995.00. blue book is $4600

looking for your advice for these question and other things I should consider.

Hmm, good questions:

Not necessarily - it really depends on how the vehicle has been maintained and driven during those miles. A vehicle with 300K miles may be in better shape then one with 100K. I would suggest getting it looked over by a mechanic if you are going to spend upwards of $3-4K. Get a compression test done, see when the timing belt/water pump was changed (look for receipts). Make sure clutch feels good (doesn't slip - floor it in 5th and make sure). Make sure it doesn't shake or pull too much (signs of a wrecked car). Use your gut feeling.

Blue book really isn't all that accurate now-a-days I noticed. I would look at the price of similar cars that are for sale in your area and base your price off of that. I wouldn't pay more then $3-4K for a 95 GSR unless it's got a newer swap in it, remember the car is 14 years old now...

Should I look for one with no Mods, very few mods?
Mods aren't necessarily a bad thing, yes they can be an indication that the car has been driven harder, but if you are buying a modified one, make sure the mods seem tasteful to you and are mods that you would do (it takes more money/effort to undo mods then it would to buy a stock car).

Really, I can't give you advice on the 95 GSR without looking at it - and since $5K is a lot of money, I would definitely pay a local shop a few $$ to get it checked out, and a compression/leakdown test done. Use your gut feeling, and look at the prices of other similar GSR's in the area, before you make an offer. Good luck with the search!

Integra God
gsr's still go for a premium, 5k isnt bad for a gsr assuming its in good condition (inside and out). do you have a link to the car?

i drive YA DIGGG
find out what the gsr is lowered on. just because it was lowered doesnt mean it was done rite and it can be a problem later if you dont do something about it

i dont think i would buy that car... reason number 1 i dont buy from dealers, WHENEVER possible... 2 im sure it was driven hard... i mean the driver put a fake itr badge on the back... 3 you can never tell how well cared for a car was once a dealer has gotten to it. cuase yeah now its spotless but when you go to clean that car for yourself oneday your going to see a LOT fo flaws im sure. and another wear indicator was the drivers seat. if that leather was taken care of it really shouldnt be in that bad of condition... but this is just me...

ok... that car i have linked has a type R engine with only 60k on it and 140k on the car... price reasonable with that engine already in it?

I just recently paid 4800 for a 99 GSR, with 170k on body, and a completely rebuilt block/head/tranny, they only have 40k after the rebuild, all parts are OEM. i think i got a good deal. ill get it up here sometime this week

yes. With a Honda it probably doesn't matter *much* if you buy a modded car. My Jetta was bone stock *looking* when I bought it, only lowered on springs, but after I bought it and started modding, it looks like previous owner also modded it. (missing bolts, screws, etc.)

I don't know where I came up with the type R engine... from the pictures you can tell its not... So if the engine has 60000 on it, it just must be rebuilt... they lowered the price by $1000... now only $4995... Now I really having trouble deciding if I should trade my truck for this car... looks like a better deal with the price drop...
