Hey all...
...well, my daughter's1996 Integra ES has a blown gasket according to PepBoys...but they want 2500 to repair. As much as she likes the car, I simply don't think its worth spending 2500. Can anyone recommend a shop that will do a repair or even an engine swapt in Orange County? Thanks!

depending on which gasket that is a rediculous amount of money just to have it replaced... now if the engine is perfectly good(meaning no other damaage), i reccomned doing it yourself(depending on what it is and your know how). also, a swap is probably going to run about the same price, with several variables involved of course. pepboys mechanics=fail

$2500 to replace a head gasket is insane. Go back to Pep Boys and tell them that they're fuckin out of their minds!

I figured these guys were trying to rape me. I drove the car home yesterday at low speeds since I'm only about a mile away from &^%$-Boys and the compression (power) seemed fine. I initially brought the car in because it started leaking coolant from waterpump area...I figured thats what it needed. I asked if they checked compression and they said no... that they did some fluid test on the coolant for carbo-something and it came back positive, indicating a leak 'somewhere' and back pressure into the radiator area. Hm. Ok...but 2500 is still insane. I'm checking around and hoping that there is a mechanic within only a few miles where i can drive the car without it way overheating with that bad water pump.
