hid?

ordered some hid bulbs told em 9004 6k....they sent me 9007 6k...and told me the 9004 and 9007 are universal is that possible?

in theory they are the same type of bulb but different fitment, 9007 is brighter, if you want heres a retrofit write up from g2ic, got it on google

the 9004, 9007 bases are similar... but not the same, you can modify it though as per samurai's link...

the connectors are also different... do you know if its suppose to be plug and play? meaning does it have a connector that plugs into your stock harness? if there is, you might also have to deal with swapping wires.

thats addressed in the link i believe because you would need to do a full retrofit to use 9007

Yea i cant see the link at work but these are just tempary. I know 9007 and 9004 are different but just wondering. I have a d2s connector and 85122+ bulbs at home chilling for my retro. Ive been dealing with retro's and hid shit for a while just never had neone tell me the 9004 and 9007 universal. I thought the only difference was the filament.

Neways i'll prob just use the piaa's i have at the moment till i finish my retro.

Details on the retro are as follows:
Ebay black housing one pieces (just because of clear lense)
Fx45 projectors
not sure on shroud prob. custom
hella ballast with d2s connector
phillps 85122+ bulb

I have tsx retro's on my 08 civic si with mdx shrouds,custom black housing, xenon depot ballast with d2s connectos and 85122+ bulbs. So im by no means a newb to headlights. I actually sell projecters. But f**kz it i ll prob just wait and use the piaa's for now. My car hasnt really been driven at night yet beings I just finished swapping a b18c in it and bought it ass a rolling shell.

yea so does neone know the quality of the ebay one pieces.....because there is no clear lensed oe light this is my only option for the retro

you seem to be missing the point... he's doing HID... which uses an electronic ballast, at first i thought he bought the whole hid kit, but now i see he already has a HID ballast (hella), which just requires you to either use a harness adapter so that you dont have to hack the stock harness, or use some sort of relay harness. the plug for the hella ballasts arent 9004/9007 style connectors anyways.

it wouldnt matter when it comes to HID for the reason being is the bulbs are basically the same. 9004 vs 9007 HID, with all other being equal (manufacturer, kelvin temp rating), there is going to be no difference in brightness, (with halogen, yes there is.. but not with HID)


ncsi, as far as the ebay black housing one pieces... are they the regular ones or the projector style? i believe there are some retrofits using the regular black housings.

also as for the bulbs, since they're aftermarket they'll use either standard AMP/KET connectors.... you'll need adapters for them to connect to your hella ballast.

that takes the male P32-d base (goes to your OEM ballasts) to an AMP connector (aftermarket bulb)


i was basically going to do the same retrofit you're doing with aftermarket housings, FX35 projectors with TSX lenses.
i figured messing with my JDM 1pieces to get the lense clear would be too much work.
post up on how everything comes along once you do the retrofit... im curious to see how the fitment is with the FX projectors in those housings.

i already have a tsx retro on my 08 si i stated earlier and am using a xenon depot ballast with an amp to d2s connectors like the pic you posted...plan the same thing on the integra also tsx lense is alrite but the retrosolutions fx clear lens is far bettttterrrr thats what i'll be gettin!


or if they will fit i have a set of tl's i can mate with zkw lenses!
