I was looking at the FMU lying on my floor the other day and was trying to figure out which fitting is the "IN" and which is OUT...... Theres one fitting in the middle of the bottom of the unit and one right next to it....

Then there's the boost sensing port, which I know about.

well anyway, if you know the answer, thanks for answering my curiosity lol

AH!

dont use an FMU
there's no point anymore in trying to get him to change his mind...he's too ignorant and thinks that "just a little boost" is ok with it

Well it would be nice if someone answered the question instead of calling me out for asking a question about a FMU.

Besides, to be more helpfull, try telling me WHY not to use one, instead of just not to use one. I've never even heard why not to use them...

yawn.

we can go back to your old thread...
http://www.clubintegra.com/board/showthread.php?t=29255&page=2&highlight=tuning

everyone stated this is no way to go, its no way to tune a car, do you plan on tuning this yourself with just fmu? you might think 5.7 pounds isnt alot of boost but sure alot more air coming into your motor then before and your have to have the right amount of fuel or your going to most likely lean it out to much, fry your rings and have fun walking everywhere. no one is trying to be a dick, we are trying to help you. do you even have a wideband to see what your a/f ratio are getting? do you even know a/f ratio your trying to get to? or are you just going to say once it stops smoking out the back its good? you act like od1 chipped ecu is alot of money? you can get a for like 150 bucks and who knows what year your car is so there is another 50 bucks for a jumper harness. and alot of tuners will hook you up with a base map for free or like 10 bucks. which i still wouldnt get into to boost, i would have it properly tuned...

so 200 bucks to be safe or just go the cheap way and do it all over again,

then once you get the money you can get a tune, and its not like you have to put the turbo kit on right now, whats your rush, its winter no one is out there driving crazy, most tracks are closed, and no one has a meet. just save a little money and do it the right way

Well that's why if I ever boosted it, i'd buy the DSM 450cc's, which is plenty of fuel for low boost applications.....

and, it'd still be nice to know the answer to my original question.

I know a guy who just recently boosted his SOHC civic with a mitsu T25 turbo, and he's using bone stock fuel system and nothing at all for a tune, not even an FMU....... I'm waiting for the weekend when he comes out and tells us his engine blew up. I'm fairly confident that my motor would be fine though..... Well, anyway, like I said before, what's so "bad" about the FMUs?

edit- I'm working on getting a A/F gauge. What's the advantage of a wideband? a narrowband doesn't show as much AFR or something?

Narrowband A/F ratio gauges are completely inaccurate. They aren't functional for tuning purposes.

oh okay. I thought like the wideband just had more numbers to possibly show or something lol.....

i've got another question. When everyone says buy a chipped ecu, what kind is it? I can't just go type "chipped ecu" into Google Shopping or something.... I've heard stuff about P30 ECU's but idk what the hell they are. I have no knowledge in the chipped ECU department

you have to get obd1 ecu, most people on our cars run obd1 p72, or obd1 p28, then you can get it chipped, which is like 50 bucks depending on where you go. once its chipped, you can tune the car correctly on a free program such as chrome

in that link, what does all that extra stuff mean? It's tuned for that size injectors, and rpms? an LS only revs to 7k and those injectors are way too big

im selling a chipped p28 for 130. you will just need to get a chip burned for your application. personally i would get the car tuned and have them burn a chip; but you can get places like xenocron and phearable to make you a basemap.
