Need your guys help big time!!

Integra FTW!
I found an amazing Integra on Craigs and I know its not a scam or anything (http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/965123248.html). The only problem with the car is that it doesn't run due to a hole in the block and it has a salvaged title. I think the car is beautiful and I really really want to buy it. I just wanted to know how much a new block will cost and how much to have it installed (or is it possible for me to do it myself with limited tools?). What do you guys think? Is it worth 2800? What are the reprocussions of a salvaged title? I think I'm going to offer him 1500$$ and see what he says.

id say 1500 would be a great deal
and idk what you mean by limited tools but the block...means the engine block...not all too simple ur going to need more than a flathead and a few sockets haha

yer it takes a while aswel. you need an engine hoist aswel. me and to friends ( 1 is mechanic and 1 is good at electrics) put my engine in, its pretty hard work and will need a garage and a real knowledge of what your doing. plus you need to find out what caused the hole in the block because it could of thrown something and messed up the head of the engine which in that case you would need a new head aswel. theres alot of things you need to think about lol but i would recomend getting a shop to put it in but it is kind of pricey

offer 1500 and see what he says, id plan on having to put a motor in it. i think a salvage title would make it harder to sell. check w/dmv about registration. that thing has a lot of potential.

Looks like a great deal man, the title is salvaged and insurance companies sure don't like to see that, but you can always clear the tittle right? I'm not sure how it goes at your place, but here in MN you can clear the tittle by rebuilding the car back to oem specs, but I'm pretty sure you can do the same for any states.

Does anyone know how much a block will cost?? Or about how much it will cost to have that put in too.
Also the head is in perfect condition. He stated in the ad that he took the motor apart and that the head was perfect but the block is the only thing that needs to be replaced.

$1500 is a good deal. Don't pay any more than that though. It's got body damamge all over it. 1. damages, 2. salvage title 3. bad engine (block) = WAY cheaper price than normal.

For reals tho, if you can get it and try to find a B1C GSR block around for sale. You could probably even get the whole GSR motor and sel the GSR head to someone looking to do a VTEC conversion. It'd sell instantly.

I just hope that the whole Salvage Title thing isn't going to screw me over in the long run. I don't know if you guys looked at the car, but I am seriously in love with that color, Dark Purple.

salvage title isnt anything, if its just salvaged for the block then you are fine. blocks are cheap, password jdm has them, venus motor sports has them. the only thing with salvage title is that you cant gain full coverage under insurance

Its a salvaged title because the intake sucked up water or something like that. Lol, I can't even afford full coverage anyways :)

lol so the motor had hydro lock at one point in its life, now it has a hole in the block, i bet the head is fucked
but 1500 isnt bad for a rolling shell, you can pick up a full gsr swap for anywhere from like 800-2000 locally, its just about who you know but if you want to order one, your gonna get owned by shipping. if you've never done any internal work or a swap i wouldnt try to do it by yourself. its a little more work then you think. i would also ask what caused the hole? if he said he took the motor apart and then put it back together to sell? seem a little weird, why wouldnt you fix it or just throw a new block on it but i would count on spending around like 3000 if you dont know what your doing. but hell if your gonna be messing with the motor might as well build.

I bet the salvage title is flood damage if I had to guess. I would see if the inside (the carpet) smells or anything. It just look sketchy to me bc the paint is peeling, the cf hood is faded, it just looks like it has sat for awhile. 1500.00 would be a good deal but don't plan on just spending money for the block.. i have a feeling there would be more... My family use to be in the car business and we always stayed away from salvage titles bc you never know who fixed them.. i dunno they just seemed edgy... IMO... I would rather pay more for a legit, solid car.

if you do need to rebuild the hole engine im seeling a gsr complete head and a complete gsr jdm transmission. and dont live 2 far away lol thats if the hole engine is messed up though. but $1500 definitly good for sheel and its got greddy exhaust so you can still use alot of things of it.
