Do I really need a Missing link?

If I boosted my 95 OBD1 integra LS with my turbokit which is set @ ONLY 5.7psi with a t3/t4 turbo, will I really need the missing link thingy for my MAP sensor? It'd be running really low 5.7psi boost, so is it okay to run it without a missing link?

ThANKS :D

The point of the Missing Link is to "hide" boost from the ECU so it doesn't think something is wrong and go into limp mode and throw an CEL.

I'd personally just go with a chipped ECU or some type of engine management..far better than a missing link..

If he's using a Missing Link, probably an FMU..

Yeah, just an JacksonRacing FMU... So no matter what, with boost (even low boost) i'l need the missing link?

you should just go light your car on fire right now, fmu is no way to tune! get your ecu chipped

Just get Hondata :thumbs up
for sure, I would get that eventually, but for now, since I aint got a billion $ thats all I'd have. Besides, no1's answered my question lol.

I appreciate the help and advice for going a different route, but for now this is all I would have. So, would I really need the missing link thingy for boosting only 5.7psi. I'm assuming yes, but just want to get it clarified. Thanks again.

Well if you just plan on tuning it with a FMU or something of that nature then yes. Honda MAP sensor will freak out the ECU if it sees boost

Oh okay, thanks. Great. i can't beleieve they are charging $50+ for that thing. I could have my buddy machine me one if I knew what the insides looked like (navy machine-ist FTW) ...........

Well I wasn't sure if you ment ANY boost at all. But now i've been clarified, thanks.

Well once my insurance settlement comes in (it's been 2 years now............ sigh..........) i'll probably spend some of it to help pay off my car, coilovers, and than a Hondata.... But who knows when that'll happen.

alright i'm sorry for sounding like a dick but you'll be saving up for a new motor and not hondata if you throw an fmu at your car with a missing link and call it "good enough for now." do it right once or spend twice as much doing it right again.... speedin had something in his sig it went like this...

Fast / Reliable / Cheap pick two...

Yup. I know. Cheap and Reliable are the ones I pick. I wouldn't be trying to gun for 300+whp. If I boosted, it's at only 5.7psi which should only bring me up to around 200whp hopefully. Thats good enough for me man.

Besides, I'm aware of the motor damaging issue. I've got my buddy who has a spare LS motor /w no trans for $100 legit with papers...

nope you sir have picked fast and cheap and skimped out on reliability big time. I'm sure EVERYONE on this forum would agree with me. It doesn't matter if your only making 200 whp on an fmu it's NOT safe. Do what you wish though.
