Honda/Acura cars last forever, depending on how you take care of them. If you keep it in good shape with constant oil changes, air filter, belts, water pumps, etc. then you don't need tp worry about you're car dying on you. If I were you I'd only swap an engine if I was going to rebuild for performance, or I blew my original motor. I have friends who own Hondas and Acuras with over 300k on them and they are still driving around.

i agree maintance is the key the quickest way to kill it though is to overheat it.

I think that's not a bad price. I'm guessing you're rebuilding back to stock form?

Not to threadjack, but man, WTF is the story on your avatar???????:shock:
Some dude was drinking and driving and some how he got lost in some rich neighborhood, stepped on the gas too hard and ran into the side of some dude's house and I guess climbed up the Ferrari, you know how low those things sit...

I suggest you start with the axles, I'm guessing it's still drivable, but man axles would be my first priority, wouldn't want something to happen while driving down the road. If the oil leak isn't too bad then I would go with replacing the timing belt and the trans problem. Since yours is an auto I think your trans probably would need a rebuild, or just some faulty torque converter, but I think you can find some used tranny around for around $100-200 off craigslist or something.

It is to be expected when a car is old and you do not know the maintenance history of the car... I would just look t getting the axles, and timing belt, waterpump as normal expected maintenance. I would ask your mechanic what he recommends to do on the tranny though.

how has no one corrected him yet? OBD not OBT. i would have thought that would have been the first reply. honestly, just buy a full swap that will come with the new motor, tranny, axles and everything. then you just need the simple auto to manual stuff and the car will be a lot better.
