Turbo or Supercharged? Debate!

So my buddy knows someone who is seliing his jackson racing supercharger for the Integra..... And knows this other guy with a Greddy turbokit selling.... They are used, but are the whole kit and everything.

What we want to know is what would you guys recommend? My brother says he personally favors turbo. I told him that I personally like S/C since they are usually easier to install, but the JR S/C is the one where it IS the intake mani, so is that one still easier to install, or are we going to be better off with the Greddy turbokit? The greddy kit comes with the e-manage and everything. We have yet to find out if the e-manage is for a gsr or not, would it matter?
Thanks for your opinions and advice! :D

I prefer turbo over supercharger but it's really up to you. Which powerband would you prefer? What do you want to use it for? Do you think you'll eventually want more power?

If so, the turbokit will have more headroom to gain power than a supercharger. With the supercharger you're pretty much stuck with what you have. You can get more out of them by using better supporting mods, smaller pulley and better tuning but the turbo will still always have more overall potential for power.

you'll make 230 on a super charger and 300 on turbo with a good tune and have lots of room to grow

:werd: I say do some research. A good place to start is the FI FAQ in the FI section of CI.

honestly, this sc/tc debate is retarted. someone will come along, say s/cs are better. someone with a turbo will come in, call the guy with the s/c a douchebag, go on and about how turbo is better because of x, the guy with the s/c will rebuttal and the whole conversation/thread gets blown out of proportion.

personally, do some research, see what's in your budget, figure out the hp numbers you want and call it a day. realize that s/c numbers will NEVER be as impressive as turbo applications. figure out what and why you're building the setup for and go with the route that fits your driving style and goals in mind.

a good place to start your s/c research/ask quetsions is the "What JRSC setup are you running" thread on HT. and well, for turbo reserach, it seems to me you can look anywhere and figure things out.

Well all I want is to be slightly faster. Just over 200whp would be fine with me. So I suppose the S/C would be the better route? Okay; say, I only want slightly over 200whp, nothing crazy, just a little faster, and I don't plan on making huge power later either, Which would you guys recommend? In quality, and installation ease?

Also, as stated in OP; "The greddy kit comes with the e-manage and everything. We have yet to find out if the e-manage is for a gsr or not, would it matter?"

if u just want over 200hp then yahh u go supercharger. u get that constant power throughtout the whole rpm's and it's more safer than a turbo imo. throw the 12lb pulley on it and make 10lbs of boost and be done w/ it. u'll be kickin ass

Is this going on an LS or a GSR? There is a big difference. An LS will get about 160whp-170 at best with mods. Plus Moss Motors (JRSC) does not support the LS at all anymore. The turbo will ultimatly net you more power both torque and peak hp. You will get almost the same hp gains from going with some crower 403's or 404's in an LS. If it's a GSR, you could go with a 12lbs pulley but you're going to always be limited. Idk, unless it's a vortech sc, I would go with the turbo. Greddy emanage is universal, but you might as well upgrade to to hondata.

YES it will matter. If the emanage is tuned for a gsr and you put it in an ls it will not work. Can you put a ls ecu in a gsr? lol Again this is if the emanage is already set up for a gsr.

The emanage unit will work (they are all generic)-the maps won't. You will need to take it to a dyno and have new ones made. The maps they have are a rough guesstimate. It would be like buying Hondata for one car and putting it in another-You still need a tune.

sorry i was at work and kinda rushed my response...yes that's what i meant to say. The unit itself will work but the tune will not.

the greddy kit only made for gsr. turbo over supercharger
The greddy kit will work on an ls. The only problem I could see running into (other than a tune) is intake pipe might have a bend in it where it hooks into the TB, to account for the gsr's dual stage manifold. You could probably just buy the pipe off ebay, or make one out of an ebay special sri. If this is going on an ls go with the greddy kit. As I state before, Moss Motors does not support the ls anyomore. It will be a guessing game as to whether parts are interchangable. I'm sure a lot or most are, but they pulled the spare parts list off their website. Unless you have that, You are going to have to play trial and error with replacement parts. Not to mention, the only 2 places that you can buy the sc are ebay and craigslist.
