I havent seen many brands of cams.. what are other major brands besides toda and skunk2
What skunk2 cams was he running? What was he running before? Ide like to see that dyno sheet. Why would you go with something other than ITR cams? You can use stock valve train with them and not need to spend 450 more dollars for springs and retainers.Id go with other cams than Type R. My friend put down 75 more horse with Skunk 2 cams at 7 psi less! granted it was at 34 and 41 psi. Most people I know run Arias pistons. I run them at 9:1
X2You can run a stock valvetrain with any cams. I don't see the point to this thread.
X2Recommendations without knowing your goals is worthless.
HP Goal? Streetability? Drag, autocross, road racing? Daily driving? Budget?
Youre kidding, right? You can run a stock valvetrain with any cams. I don't see the point to this thread.
No I'm not kidding, you may not be able to rev to "9500" safely but you can run them.Youre kidding, right?
I can tell you right now, that I will not run my pro1s with stock valve springs and retainers. If you want to then go for it.
I guess me going to 9500 is a good reason for the upgrade
idk if id trust someone who cant spell to rebuild my engineLOL! Im well aware of that. I know that my post count, lack of avatar and sig may make me seem like a noob, but that I am not. Ive got numerous dial calipers, dial bore gauges, outside mics, and many other engine building tooks.
Ide assembly his motor for less than 1000 bucks. I can probably supply most of the parts listed about for about a grand.
lol, I just fixed it! tooks, thats hilarious.idk if id trust someone who cant spell to rebuild my engine
haha just fuckin with u man
There is no reason to buy Pro1s if you cant take them up to a high rpm.No I'm not kidding, you may not be able to rev to "9500" safely but you can run them.
I have not personally run them in any of my turbo cars. I know of a handfull of people that Im pretty close with that run Skunk2's Tuner stage 1's in a turbo car.Have you ever tried them with a turbo application? They work quite well. They are also very easy on valvesprings. They will also still provide a nice power gain without revving to 9500.
Understandable. Skunk2 says that aftermarket valvesprings are required. Pro springs are recommended. While I dont run Pro springs, I have the tuner springs. You can't just look at the duration and lift, you have to look at the ramp rates and closing speeds that the cams will produce. Skunks new amax and fast(whatever) technology is surprisingly easier on springs then most other high lift longer duration cams.
GSR cams are the best bang for your buck wih turbo and i have seen them make 800+whpI would run GSR cams if you're sticking with OE.
