94/ 97 Vs 98+

im changing my 1994 bumper to upgrade to a 98+ one..

will the 1994 headlamps, and cornerlights fit?

i wouldnt have to replace the bumper reinforcements right?

its as easy as removing my stock one, and replacing the 98+?

also is can you guys post pics of before and afters? if you have any... from 1994-1997 to 1998+

sometimes i see a fat difference, and alot of times i cant tell at all.

if anyone was to define the significant difference of the two styles what would it be?

- no you cant use 94-97 headlights on your 98+ bumper
-no you dont have to replace the reinforcements
- yes its super easy, the longest part of the job is lining up the fenders w/ bumper.

To swap bumpers you will need
98+ bumper
98+ headlights
98+ corner lights and brackets

if you want a dyi (how to swap bumpers) ill post one up for ya..

differences between 94-97 tegs to 98+ tegs

- bumper has bigger mouth, and around headlights its different, there's straight lines come out of the bumper
-Headlights have more of a slighted angel to them compared to 94-97
-Corner lights are shape a lil different, hard to explain, just gotta see them 2getherto see a different. the are different so they can fit a 98+ bumper.
-side mirrors are different
-rear bumper is different also, it has a little lip on it, diffuser if you will.
- also few differences in interior as well, seats,steering wheel, fabric exc..
-tailights are different (94-97 amber corners, 98+ all red tails)

There is definitely a huge difference between the 2 front ends...not sure how you wouldn't be able to tell. The headlights are angled inward and the front as a whole looks much more aggressive than the previous years.

with alot of the 98+ i can tell the significant difference, but only on the white, and red one, but all the other colors seemed the same, to me. keyword: "SEEMED".

thanks, alot guys. i asked about this before, but then got to the point where i was about to buy headlights, and i was told that i didnt need them for the swap... so i hit this point of confusion once again.

XslickwhitetegX you said the bumper light brackets? does this come with bumper lights when you buy it? or would i have to buy it separately? thanks for all the help.. would you really do that DIY post?

No, they do not come with the corner lights. A lot of times you will get them with the bumper if you're buying one off of a part out car or something of that nature. But it doesn't always happen that way, sometimes they are missing

The 98 is one piece where the 97 and older is two pieces. 98 looks soooooooo much better, its so worth it man. get a 98 rear bumper too. it hangs lower and also looks a ton better. and its simpler than changing the front. Your car will look ALOT better. 98 taillights are the shit too. Simple things you can do to make your car look 6 years newer! Cant believe you cant tell the difference!! Its Night and DAY!

where can i find the bumper light brackets? i tried ebay, nothing. would i have to go to the dealership? i got my 98 bumper, and now i can CLEARLY see the difference!! it is night and day! thanks for all guys!

well I dont have pictures of the old 94-97 front/rear end, but here's the after shot of the installed 98-01 front end on a 97 GS-R body. definately more agressive and night and day. Also definately makes the Eskimo girls up here melt their ice if you know what i mean 8)

and one more thing to OP, becareful on the bumper removal part, that part fucked me up the most because I didnt do my homework. If this is your first time, i'd advise looking up a manual on how to remove it and where the nut/bolts are located first.

otherwise you'll end up breakin stuff, cursing and then wishing Sarah Palin was your Vice President :p8):p

if you bought a 98+ bumper already, you might have the corner light brackets already... the are located inside the bumper..but yea dealership is your best bet.

so your corner brackets are missing I'm taking it?

also when you take all the bolts/screws off, you zip lock bags or something so you know exactly where all the bolts/screws are..
