Isn't this taken STRAIGHT from the SCC article testing AEM's bypass valve on an NSX?:lol:Say you have a 2.0-liter engine (just because it makes for simple math). Each cylinder measures 500cc. If one cylinder sucks up 100cc of water then you're in trouble. If the engine has 10.0:1 compression ratio (GSR C/R and easy math purposes), then combustion chamber would be reduced to 55.5cc at TDC. So a piston going up with 100cc of water in it is on it's way to self destruction. Water does NOT compress. When the piston reduces the combustion chamber to 100cc, the piston WILL stop. And if you are lucky, you're engine will too. If it doesn't then blown headgasket, broken ring lands, broken rod or any combination is likely.

It probably seeped into my brain from a long time ago. lol I do remember reading that article like 4 years ago. I don't remember what numbers they used but it was probably damn near the same. 2.0L and 10:1 just make for simple math and an easy example.Haha I know its just funny because the wording is almost exactly the same lol.

Honestly, Stock airbox with K&N filter, with or without resonator. I really didnt notice any change from sri to the stock setup, with my cai i noticed more power but it rains a ton here and isnt worth the trouble
Stock airbox with a new filter is a good choice, if you want the sound remove the resonator (big white box thing thats a bitch to remove) OR get a K&N intake w/ heat shield so your sri sucks up less hot air

yeah if your an are wher it rains scratch the CAI, best bet to get benefit of cool air would be a SRI with heatshield.

personality i prefer CAI over SRI,and im not to worried about hydro lock at all.. just advoid the puddles, just like avoid the pot holes :lol:

You guys are way too paranoid about CAI's sucking up water. I had one for 3 years, I'm in N.H., it rains and snows plenty, I never had a problem. The filter is behind the wheel well liner, it's pretty well protected in there, you really do need to basically submerge the front end of your car in a lake to get the intake to suck up water....water that'll actually reach the TB. Don't worry about it so much.

I had one for 3 years, I'm in N.H., it rains and snows plenty, I never had a problem. The filter is behind the wheel well liner, it's pretty well protected in there, you really do need to basically submerge the front end of your car in a lake to get the intake to suck up water....water that'll actually reach the TB. Don't worry about it so much.
