are any mods required to run 10psi from a garrett t3/t4 turbo on a stock b18b1 motor besides the injectors and water pump etc that i have in my signature?

as long as your motor is healthy and not losing or burning crazy amounts of oil you'll be good

Sleeves are $1000 bucks. Great but expensive. Get a block gard, you could run 12psi safe with that. Its only $90. Plus to be safe you need something to tune with. Get an Apexi SAFC or something

His sig says Neptune.

Neptune>SAFC

I don't believe in block guards because they do nothing but impede coolant flow. They don't in any way protect against cracking. My friend's old 400hp LS/VTEC had a block guard that did nothing but catch the rod on its way out of the block.

sleeve or stock

i've heard so much bad stuff about block graud and everyone knows piggy backs suck, you'll be fine with what you got for 250whp

post your dyno

suggesting safc and a block guard?.. okay...

safc's are back in the early 90's before standalones were "available and affordable"... neptune rtp is pretty dope... blockguards are known for premature engine wear... overheating issues?...

check your power goals... get a really good tune... your parts list is fine the way it is... all else i can recommend is a boost gauge, oil temp/pressure gauge, and wideband... but im sure u have those already...

like hmongkie said, check your power goals. safc and block guard aren't the best way to go but better than nothing. Keep in mind you will have to tune it somehow. ps i went for for the sleeves over the block guard. If you're going to do it, now would be the time while youre rebuilding

The stock internals should be fine on 10psi provided you have a good tune.

PS - The Apexi SAFC sucks!

10 psi doesnt mean anything... its about horsepower... 10 psi on a disco potato and a full blown gt45r are 2 totally different things...

Well he doesn't have a GT28RS or a GT45R so what is your point?
I think he was refereing to the t25 where he will make 160whp because its so small and with the GT45R where he will make 160whp because he will never spool it

I realize that. But he already stated he has 250whp which is plenty fine on an LS provided it has a good tune and healthy internals. Even a T25 is efficient on a 1.8L at 10PSI. That's my point.

Obviously a different turbo may be more or less efficient, but it's not as drastic as a GT28R vs GT42R.

some people still dont understand the difference between 10lbs on different turbos (im not referring to u buddy)... we just have to be clear on the posts in case someone reads it, declares that "10lbs" is a safe boost limit, and then blows his thing to shreds because he interpreted information wrong...

I understand. I was going on the basis that he stated he has 250whp with a T3/T4. I also understand that their are dozens of different combo's of that turbo, but just about every one of them will be safe at 10psi.

It's all good though :thumbs up
