i was thinking of a material similar to what the factory uses to cover the spart tire, and just run lengths of thicker board below it to support it. that way its strong but still light weight....

1/4" masonite is pretty lite, and supports itself nicely. I'm pretty sure its the stuff above the spare tire.

and then you could run like a couple 2" boards of MDF to support. Much lighter weight right there.

That rear seat delete sounds like a lot of money and a lot of work to get rid of a convenience and add weight.
