pistons selecting for my ls vtec build with 5.531 rods

im putting together a ls vtec build with 5.531 rods and i wanted to know what pistons to run with gsr b18c1 head, i wanted to run ctr pistons but i don't think they will clear the head, will itr pistons work.

i have YCP CTR pistons with hastings rings, they are both 81.00mm for $100 brand new in the box

ill probably get them from u if i know for sure that i will have proper clearance with my rods being 5.531 on a ls block and crank if u know for sure shot me the specs.

Those rods are huge, you won't be able to use any stock pistons with them. I don't know where you got those rods but imo you should sell them and try to source some stock length ones.

also im willing to bet those rods are for floating pins and any factory piston will be a pressed in wrist pin. so you need aftermarket pistons.

you could always use ITR oversided pistons if you were going to bore it out.

thanks 4 the info but i sold them. im going 2 go with the ctr pistons and my stock (shotpeen) rods will that setup work?

^^ thats 14.3:1 thats pushing pump gas. i would find some p30's or somethin. my motor i built i found some RS Machines 81.5 pr3

Im not sure of all the calculations, but the cr changes since theyre in the b18 block...read the 3rd post from the top.

thanks i started to just read that third one but ended up reading all the way to the 8th page. some good stuff. i already got all my parts ordered so what it looks like is im going 2 need a bigger head gasket
my setup is
ls vtec
b18b block
b18c1 head
ctr pistons
arp rod bolts
shotpeen rods
all the bearing and gaskets
everything balanced
think that should work ?

thats cause some ppl claim different on the dome of the ctr but i wouldn't chance it i would go off of this http://www.zealautowerks.com/ according to zealauto your looking at 14.33:1 thats past pump gas. and i think one post says 13:1 either way i wouldn't want to be higher than 12.5:1 on pump gas.

The compression height on those pistons is 30.73mm, it always will be, people who claim it's different than that are wrong. Skoodles is right though. You can't run ctr pistons in a b18b block with stock rods. 14.33 compression is way to high for you.

thanks i already have the pistons coming so that sucks but hopefully ill be able to send them back 4 the itr ones. R those the same as p30's? what would my CR be with itr pistons? just picked up some itr camshafts and dual valve springs to add 2 the build. also honeing the cylinders.
