my 95 GSR is making a rattling noise comign from the trasmission, it ratlles when the car is in idle and when Im traveling slowly. It stops when I press on the clutch. I was told it was the throw out bearing and possibly rear main seal by one mechanic. Another mechanic told me it was input shaft. Im confused. Please advise.

well theres a thread on honda-tech about the mainshaft bearing making a grinding noise when it goes out. i dont think its the throw out bearing it would make noise when i push in the clutch and it startes spinning.

heres the thread just read and look into sounsd exactly what your problem is by what he says in the first sentence

Hey my car's kinda like that too, except the rattling only comes on when I rev up to the 3-3.5k mark on every gear, and when I'm on the freeway doing like 60 it comes on again... but if I go like 65 then it goes away... possibly the same problem???? I always thought it was just my exhaust vibrating or some sort so I've never looked into it... drives fine... but after reading this, could it be?

Wait... What?
dc2 yours sounds like the beginning of your syncros going out.

i'd try a new clutch kit and then go from there
James has a point here, i was actually thinking the same thing bro, the rattling noise could be part of your clutch actually rattling against the flywheel. thats the case when alex pado had this problem. It was a spring which was broken off from the clutch and chattering against the fly wheel. (this was not his fault fyi)
